For the first few months, I felt so guilty for breaking up with him. But he was really bad for me and I realized it in the end. Thankful for my best friends for letting me see the light and showing me what I don’t deserve from a man. It’s been 6 months in, and I think I’m doing better than a few months ago. I shouldn’t even be mad that it’s over, I should be mad at the fact that I settled and stayed for three years despite the red flags.

I never felt bad about a relationship ending because I was always the one to end it. I know others felt pity for me, and I thought that was weird. Why feel bad for someone that made the choice to end a relationship with a shitty man that they no longer wanted to be with? Society is stupid

After leaving my abusive ex, I spent years thinking I was a failure and incapable of having a happy, healthy relationship. This so so much. My mom tells my sister not to make the same mistake I did by dating in college. Which while I understand the sentiment, all I did was a date a decent guy in college who turned out to not be long term husband material. Kinda stings every time it comes up.
