Like many of you, I have found OLD to be a difficult way to meet potential dates. The platforms themselves seem to encourage LVM mindsets and behavior, and it’s hard for me to vet men I’ve never met in person for whether I’d feel attracted and comfortable around them. I’m interested in trying to meet guys in real life.

For women looking to meeting guys in real life, what kind of social settings would you avoid or try getting involved in (not JUST to meet guys but as a possibility)? I’m in my early thirties and have some close friends, but it’s not that often I just meet new potential friends, let alone single HVM.

I also am creating this discussion because I want to warn other woman out there of the settings I’ve experienced as having a high quotient of LVM.

These have been:

-Meetups with some kind of personal development or support group component. These tend to attract supportive women and self-absorbed men.

-Partner dance classes often have pushy and grabby guys who are into a “traditional” role as imagined by conservatives. Often they’re guys with no sense of rhythm and strong body odor too, TBH.

-Board gaming cafes and events. These attract guys who fantasize about conquest and dominance, think they are smarter than others, and don’t understand social skills. It’s unfortunate, because I like board games as a fun way to bond with friends, but again this seems to be something women know how to do with some lightheartedness that guys make dramatic and weird.

Settings that have been sometimes better for meeting HVM have been at school and through social events with people I already know, but as I get older these opportunities for meeting others have become rarer.
