Serves as a serious warning to any woman considering marriage. Anyone else watching? I’m barely through episode two and I’m already angry for the main character, Betty. We should have a watch thread!

Just for reference, the show is about a woman, Betty, who marries a man before she’s even out of college. He basically pressures her to because he “loves” her so much, and she’s “perfect” — but really it’s because he doesn’t want time to give her the opportunity to leave him or change her mind (she wanted to wait til after graduation). She also gets slut-shamed by her parents for even getting calls at home from men (to give you an idea of where her head’s at) — this is early 60s America.

He starts out as a med student while she supports him through school by working AND popping out his children AND caring for them, alone. He finally graduates and becomes a doctor only to decide he’s “miserable” and wants to go to law school - at Harvard! Ladies, imagine my fury. I won’t say anymore. But this is her 20s. You can probably guess what’s in store when it comes to this classic narcissist.
