Ooo shit I needed this today. After 32 years I just realized that my mother is emotionally abusive (DARVO, threats, negging, the whole 9 yards) and I’m currently looking at why 1. I’ve completely missed that it’s at the level that it’s at (prior to this I would have said that she was a pickme who allowed her men to abuse me but I would have assigned it to her insecurities and damage, and said she was still a nice person tho. Now after really looking at it I realize that it is definitely her, it’s blatant and not going to stop so I’m done) and 2. Why I’ve continued to be unhappy with our relationship (for literally as long as I can remember) but continuously go back and give her endless redos. Nothing that she brings to the relationship is worth how she continuously treats me, even with her being my biological mother.

2020 is apparently my year of metamorphosis and damn is it exhausting completely redoing my entire damn life like this

This is so true. And is applicable not only for men but for shitty female friends.

I always seemed to accept more shit from females. They always had something to say about my relationships but could never self reflect on their own. They looked down on me, used me when they wanted something, particularly money or a favour or inside information (one even put my job in jeopardy). And would talk to me like I was a piece of rubbish. Ignore my messages when they felt like it because they had no use for me. So I did a massive cull and started self reflecting on why I put up with that shit from users, and set better boundaries in future relationships.

Yessss!!!!! This is me right now. 2 year abusive relationship ended and not only have I cut ties but also with that girl who allowed every one of her non existent boundaries get broken. Feels really good moving forward to now start practising these things mention on FDS

it's so tough to do this, when you were under someone's spell for so long. i find i have so much shame from taking all the bullshit for so many years that i really dislike that person i became. it sucks compromising your principles for someone who doesn't care about you. but i know ultimately we do have to move on and become a stronger version of ourselves.
