Sorry not sorry. I’ve been with a psychopath who beat me, a junkie who is now dead, an alcoholic who got sober, and my latest ex a man who is lazy entitled hasn’t worked in 13 years who suffers from anxiety and depression and is on all kinds of medications that affect mood and sex drive.

Nono Nono no no fucking hell no. I would rather set myself on fire rather than go to work every day to support someone who can’t work. Because their excuse/mental illness equals more work for me.

So I don’t care if it’s politically correct, HELL NO!!!!

Dated an ex with bipolar disorder who had a manic episode requiring police intervention, heavy sedation for several days, in- patient care for a month, and baby-sat at all times for 3 months after. Refused to take the medication, engaged in recreational drugs which can induce mania, and did not have an appropriate sleep schedule which can also induce mania.

I fought with my ex SO many times on all this, but the stress of that, plus 3 jobs, full time school, and my own dwindling mental health made me snap and revealed my own set of mental health issues which led me to self-medicate with illegal substances and I fell into an addiction that almost killed me.

I broke it off, yet still in the throes of my addiction, a year later I took my ex back. Thankfully, I came to my senses shortly after, ended things again, and have stayed clean (and NC with the ex) for almost 2 years.

I have a friend who’s dating someone with a plethora of physical and mental health issues. My friend goes above and beyond to support him, but he gives little to nothing in return. And despite how loving and devoted my friend has been for the last five years, he is no less miserable and self-absorbed than he was before. If anything, his behavior has gotten even worse. Example: Screaming and whining at my friend after an elective surgery where she took time off work to care for him. Without meaning to, she has enabled him and he hasn’t gotten the help he needs. He really truly doesn’t deserve her.
