No. The very idea that permanent birth control methods should be used temporarily is harmful.

Vasectomies are for people who do not want to have children. Period.

Don’t spread misinformation and bad advice. It hurts women, childfree persons, children, etc.

I absolutely agree that men are also responsible for birth control, but please be careful with telling people vasectomies are reversible. All vasectomies are reversible but that doesn't guarantee success in conceiving a child from the reversal. It can create unnecessary complications in the already difficult process of trying to conceive. Even freezing sperm beforehand just in case adds additional challenges and costs to the process. If a man wants a child one day, it's probably not the best method of birth control. Hopefully science creates a more reliable way to do this in the future.

That said, if a man is truly child free or does not want more children, he absolutely should get a vasectomy. There is not reason for a man who doesn't want a (more) kid(s) to not get one. Like you said, they're quite affordable and a quite easy procedure.

I mean they generally are reversible (>95%) if you reverse within 10yrs. But, you should be aware that vasectomy reversal is rarely covered by insurance, so it could easily cost 10-15k to reverse it. Just beware.

If having children is something you want in even the distant future, I would make sure that he is also on the same page. In my experience, men who get vasectomies, generally want to never have children, at the time they get the operation. I would just make sure that if you both plan for this vasectomy to be temporary, you make sure he is on that plan too. I would just make sure he also sees this vasectomy as temporary, not permanent. You wouldn't want to be strung along with a man who never wants children, if that is something you want.

Vasectomies are not reversible. It is possible in some circumstances to reverse them but no one should get a vasectomy on the idea that it would be easy to reverse later, because its not. Also its a much more complicated operation to reverse than to get it in the first place.
