When you move in, magically all your time becomes his somehow. ?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!

Everything he does needs a parade, and though you spent 3 hours on cleaning the kitchen on your day off, the fact that you are painting when he comes home means you fucked up and are lazy and immature.

Please dont end up like me.

This. Of course men would be frothing at the mouth - no ring or deep commitment but they are getting regular sex, split bills, food/cleaning from a partner. Why would they marry or commit financially when they can have it for free?

The greatest change in my life thanks to the FDS handbook: there is no cohabitation with me until I at the very least am engaged and soon planned to marry. I am open about this. It has scared off a great deal of losers with no intention to be a supportive and financially secure partner. :)

Someone posted a study on here a few months ago where they determined that men are more likely than women to want to move in together for financial reasons. Women were more likely to state that their reason for moving in together was for love. Men like to play dumb but they know when they are taking advantage of a woman.

Moving in with a man before marriage can be very risky because often it mainly benefits him.

It can also be a lot more complicated to break up when you are living together, depending on the situation.

“Love”. God they brainwash us so well. We have to do us and our future daughters a favor by making decisions that are not so dependent on love.

Hi, that was me! I deleted the post because I accidentally shared a graphic and didn't want it connected to my reddit in case it leaked. Yes, I'm paranoid. But almost the info came from here:

https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2019/11/06/marriage-and-cohabitation-in-the-u-s/

I did have a statistic from another paper that I couldn't find but it was basically, men like the convenience of having a bangmaid and women think they'll get married. Sigh, sociology is depressing sometimes.

People hate to hear this and will rush to post anecdotal evidence to the contrary. Unfortunately those stories keep everyone hooked on hopium. We all believe we will be that exception to the rule.

But very often cohabitation masks the fact that at least one person is not keen on marrying the other and wants to keep their options open, just in case they find someone better. When they do marry each other, it's because of sunk-cost fallacy and not because of any stars in their eyes or butterflies in their stomach.

Eventually they realize that sunk-cost fallacy won't keep you warm and "loved up" at night, so they throw in the towel.

I know so many couples that moved in together and the girlfriend in the situation was super excited thinking it meant they were closer to marriage. Every time, the boyfriend would make excuses at the 1-2 year mark. Suddenly they’re moving from apartment to apartment, lease to lease and still no sign of a ring. No matter what we think, we’re never the exception. I’ve rarely met couples that are successful and not in the forever girlfriend territory that move in together before engagement/marriage.

Correlation does not equal causation. There may be all sorts of reasons why people who don’t cohabitate prior to marriage also get divorced less often. Religion is an obvious one.
