And some shitty friendship. No farmer's markets, no fun gallery trips, no coastal adventures, no cooking classes. I'm sorry, but I'm too good for even friends to expect me to watch them play video games and eat greasy fast food.

Friendship? They wouldn't have the first idea. To them, friendship is about the "feelings" they get from the person - not the care and attention and support for wellbeing that friends give and accept.

No wonder a lot of male friendships don't last: they're predicated on the fun they have without any maintenance or effort.

Situationships are THE worst.

It nearly destroyed my mental health. This guy never considered me his friend. He told me that we were a "thing." "You are not my friend, you are so much more than that. Don't overthink it, b" he said and I bought it.

I did this with a guy for years. We just hung out had sex went to places together it was awesome. We never discussed what we were. We never labelled it. We just had an amazing casual situationship. His family liked me a lot. He paid for my coffee and was happy to pick me up and drive because he was a car enthusiast. I’d known him as a friend long before this.

I guess he was a bit of my rebound and he was down for it. He knew my ex and his ex dated my ex so it was a bit messy.

It wasn’t until I felt all the trauma from my last relationship caught up with me that I had to cease hanging out to try and sort myself out. Still not close to healing.

The reason it worked so well was because nothing really mattered to me so I had no expectations. I was just happy to have someone to hang out with.

I did ask him if he wanted to come to dinner with my family for my birthday and he declined. He was either too nervous or didn’t want to commit to anything.

I miss that guy.

Agreed to this exact situation with 2 different guys concurrently for many many months. What a fucking idiot I was cause I thought at least one would fall for me for real. I was friends with both of them and both expressed they really liked me so i did a lot of stuff with them pre-covid (trips, concerts, dinners). I would tell them about each other and they’d get jealous which I thought was a good sign? Anyway, I was tired of being optional and so I broke it off with each one and NEITHER tried to get me to stick around. Now I have a super sweet boyfriend who will go to the ends of the earth for me and I get to cheer him on as he becomes a fucking doctor (yes this is flexing). Point is, it’s really crazy once you realize your worth and what it attracts..
