If he wants to work on it, I suggest having him read John Gottman's work, especially the stuff about men and how they "flood" easily in arguments. It's up to him to learn healthy coping mechanisms, IF that is what is causing him to stonewall. If it's just him not wanting to step up, then yeah, bye bye him. Stonewalling is actually one of the "four horsemen of the relationship apocalypse."
