It is a know fact: men benefit when standing next to a woman. It does not matter if she is a friend (he will look more approchable). If she is a date (he then becomes a lady's man). If she is a girlfriend (he will be looked as more mature). Or even if she is his wife (a man who has completed the life milestones).

It all comes back to what image he portrays of himself to others. It does not even come close to what he actually wants.

An example would be darker skinned men not wanting to date women with the same skin tone as them. Why ? Because lighter skin is "better". They follow what society tells them is "pretty".

Then once the man has achieved his goal of impressing family members, friends or coworkers with his female trophy. The novelty withdraws, and he is now left with the underlying truth: the woman he is with did not cure his insecurities. It is a sad reality, more so when it is a scenario that is not uncommon.

Omg you are describing my child's father . He literally has to go and talk to both my brother and my Dad all the time about sports and whatever else. I notice when my dad walks into the room he stops looking at his phone and starts trying to be respectful but when it's me and him in that room he doesn't take his eyes off the phone . Either way he shows that he is more enthusiastic about his guys friends, my dad and my brother more than me. That was added to the list of reasons why I dumped him . It was so obvious , he only cares about male opinions but would shut down all of my opinions . Ugh he makes me want to scream.

I second this. Compartmentalize all types of relationships. Any fall out that tries to latch onto your family will be hard to get rid of when you dont want them in your life. You dont wanna get in a situation where you miss out on family events and avoid your brothers parties because your ex happens to be there when you never wanna see them again. Be careful ladies.

In my case, even tho my brother has a social life he attaches to all my bfs and it is SO annoying because it puts pressure on the relationship because my brother is a mans man even to his sister and so if we break up he still wants them in his life not caring that it means i have to work my life around an ex near my family where i BELONG.

My ex tried to guilt me (and honestly it worked to a degree) into not breaking up with him because he “loved” my family so much (even though he often made fun of them), especially my uncle. SO WEIRD

My sisters boyfriend was very admanant about meeting the parents very early on - not even two months into the relationship! She refused and he threw a hissy fit. When they broke up because of his incessant calling and need for attention, he talked crap about her to everyone she’d ever introduced him to including my older sister and brother in law on their honeymoon 🤦‍♀️ Unless he’s properly vetted, never introduce him to family!

This, but also look out for men using you for your familial connections.

My male family members are pretty well known in my area as specialty contractors & master tradesmen. I stopped dating guys from my home county because they're never interested in me, they're just looking for an 'in'. I have a lot of stories about my dad teaching these young men some skills, helping them get an interview or job at a great workplace with benefits, and then they're gone. Others looked at me and saw hunting opportunities on our land or realized what I'm going to inherit and tried to worm their way in. The older I got the better I was at recognizing this and I just stopped dating men that would say "Oh you're one of those (insert last name here)?!" and get excited.

Now I barely even mention my dad and I only ever bring guys around my family when I either want to see if they're easily scared off (a lot of them can't reconcile my dateable blonde bombshell look with seeing me in camo, steel toed boots, and covered in dirt, soot, and grease) or after they've demonstrated that they're high-value and in it for the long term.
