It’s not just the cost of investment, you have to consider the opportunity cost. If they wanna accuse us of gold digging, let’s really dig into the numbers like an economist. For every guy that a woman chooses to spend an hour with, that’s a potential hour that could have been spent with 10-15 other guys dying to take her out on a date-one of which could be the “one” or at the least let’s say he treats her with respect and takes her out on a very pricey date (looking at pure numbers like an economist here.) So the total economic cost of a woman going on an hour date is the monetary cost of getting ready, years of investment into her image, and the opportunity cost of missing out on another much better date.

The ones that don’t want to pay for the date aren’t doing well financially and / or trying to date multiple women at once.

If Beyoncé came along, he would invest in her, pay for the date and drop the others. They would get ghosted and wonder where he went. He would even drop some essentials for himself if he had to in order to keep her.

I love the femme stuff but you are so right about the time suck and overall cost. I buy relatively cheap stuff and would hate to think of the overall cost of my makeup rotation alone (not counting hot tools, hair care, shave stuff, deodorant, handbags...). Whoops.

The key thing is that even if you ignore the direct monetary investment that women invest into beauty products, the sheer time investment that women put into preparing for dates should be enough to merit the men paying, at least with today’s societal expectations that strictly require women perform these actions for dating.

This. If I include literally everything in my routine that falls under health & beauty it consists of:

Laser hair removal ($1000 for 6 treatments)
Semi-permanent eyelash extensions ($115 every 2 weeks)
Facials every 6 weeks ($80 per facial)
Pedicures and manicures every 3 weeks ($40)
Clothes (I can't even put a number on this there are so many)
Shoes (same as above)
Clinique makeup ($60)
Clinique face wash ($40)
Jewelery (hard to put a number on this since I usually shop on Etsy)
Perfume ($70 per bottle)
Straightening iron, hair curler ($350)
Breast augmentation ($7000)
Muay Thai Training Academy ($105 per month)

If a guy doesn't pay for our date, I have no problem paying for myself; HOWEVER, I will literally never date him again. EVER. He is swiftly replaced with another suitor in my rotation.

Idk I wouldn’t really consider that’s stuff because that’s just what I do for myself. It’s definitely a part of it but it’s not a perfect 1:1.

Kinda reminds me of those SAHM breakdowns infographics. I was a stay at home mom, shits hard, but it wasn’t comparable to being a full time chef, nurse, educator all rolled into one.

Pretty is a skill. But I don’t think the direct dollar amount is the point. The point is men have no problem spending money on people/things they value, whether the woman is spending $10,000 a month or $20 if he values her he’ll have no problem lavishing her.

I take a shower, shave using a drugstore razor, put on some of my $10 concealer, $20 lipstick, possibly use a $20 straightener on my hair, and put on clothes that are clean and nice-looking (clothes are the most expensive part for me because I'm an unconventional size, but still I don't spend more than $100-150 on an outfit and don't buy clothes that I don't plan on rewearing many times). It costs me $60 to get my haircut also, which I do every couple of months.

I can't dream of spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a regular beauty routine, tbh. For me that wouldn't be sustainable. I want to date people who'll find me attractive in close to my natural state, because I sure as shit am not interested in keeping up tons of time and money on appearances - I have better uses for my time. I guess that's in part a lesson I had to learn through age and experience though...

When I really want to look nice, my makeup alone costs around 120€ for one evening. That's what my dinner should AT LEAST cost.
