Omg I remember watching this show and something about it was really niggling me, like why does this portrayal of family feel so different? Then I realized it’s a rare example of a healthy, loving heterosexual marriage...and usually if we get a healthy tv couple they are young, not veterans that have a teen child. So wow isn’t that sad to be so used to dysfunction that it’s a big thing to see healthy relationships lol.

Or maybe you can’t actually do better because the ratio of HVW to HWM is way, WAY off, esp the older you get, but... sometimes being alone is “doing better.”
