Would you date a religious person?

I see it pretty similar. A guy who is very religious often comes with some pretty disturbing views about women (and sometimes even science). No dating material here. And they often want to get you to believe in the same things they do.

On the other hand, a guy who believes in something but can accept that other people don't or believe in something different and is intelligent enough to see that religious books were written long enough ago that science has changed, can be a good thing. He's respectful of other views and not stupid or fixed in his ways.

I think having similar values is important if its a long-term relationship that you are seeking. Someone may be very religious and it makes sense that their partner should be as well so they could have the same views on how to live their life. I know some atheists that look very negatively towards religious people so it doesn't make sense for them to date a religious person. A person may be a-religious and seek an a-religious person or maybe an atheist if they are comfortable with that.

Personally, yeah I think it does make a difference... I definitely don't want to be with a religious person. However, I also don't want to be with an anti-theist at well. So belief in God or lack thereof is not a deal-breaker but I can't go to extremes like religious or anti-theist because I'm not really attracted to those viewpoints.

The one thing I’ve had in common with every man I’ve been with is that none were religious. I didn’t consciously choose that but I simply am not attracted to religious men, not to mention chances are higher they are a misogynist who wants to sit back and let women do all the work.

I was raised Catholic. And it was strict (went to mass twice a week, stations of the cross, all the sacraments, etc.). The entire religion is based off the idea that we were only made to compliment a man and that we are the cause of evil, sin, and the downfall of humanity. So although I still believe in a higher power and would look for the same (I’m not looking lol) I would stay away from religions that lean too far one way or the other.

I have a similar opinion where I’m a theist but won’t date anyone who’s an atheist. I think that major of a difference in beliefs would suggest other differences that I wouldn’t be compatible with that person

Well, no. I dated someone that followed the Muslim religion all the way through. He even had 7 marriages because he wouldn't have sex before marriage. Guess what, I knew his sex count 😂

That aside he was a very naive person and our world views clashed. So unless you are very religious too, I would stay away from it. But comparing him to the sex hungry men I meet OLD he was/is still a nice catch, just not for me. did he use religion to control women and justify his poly lifestyle? Hell yes. But the fuckboys out there don't even justify let alone tell you.

Not a deal breaker, buuut.... I would describe myself as vaguely Christian, and I would like men to tolerate that. There is a certain type of unpleasant militant internet atheist / Dawkins fanboy that I hate because they tend to think religious people are dumb, don't know about the origins of the bible (e.g. the different authors), the similarity to earlier deities, the ideas 'stolen from' pagan cults, etc.

I also don't like religious conservatives of any stripe, too prescriptive and too much baggage with regards to womens' rights. Avoid. But I've met many people that were as Muslim or Jewish as I was Christian, in that they follow some of their traditions and consider them valuable, but aren't at all fanatics.

Ended up with a wishy washy agnostic. Perfect!

I'd go for an agnostic or barely-practicing Christian/Jew but nothing more extreme.

Let's be honest: not all atheist men are the cream of the crop since most are staunch porn/strip club/prostitute users. 🤮🤮🤮

Absolutely not, because I am a Christian. I live my life. I follow The Word, and make mistakes, because I’m only human.

I also believe in accountability and believe that a high value man has a key component of accountability, respect, and honesty, and yearns earnest, full living. So for me, it goes pretty hand-in-hand.

People seem to think that that means I have to shove my beliefs down their throat and automatically want to devalue me based off of that alone.

I also will no longer be having sex until marriage.

Pick mes: you’re fuming, aren’t ya?
