I agree! In the spaces that I tend to be in, I see a lot of prejudice and discrimination against straight people, white people, and men. I'm not trying to argue that being straight, white, or male means you are now more oppressed than a black, gay, trans person, or woman but hate is still hate. It's also not a competition.

It's counterproductive and I think it's the reason genuinely good movements are discredited because being an asshole to a group of people because someone from that group was an asshole to you, doesn't justify being an asshole. Two wrongs don't make a right.

If there's a shitty gay person, I'm not responsible for their actions. If there's a shitty asian person, you aren't responsible for their actions. In my opinion, generalising groups is what prevents real discussion. Change is possible, but it requires both sides.

Look, I'm all for feminism

Why ? i'm for egalitarianism because i think both women's and men's rights matter. and fighting sexism is about fighting misogyny and misandry.

Feminism is not about believing that men and women are equal, but about believing that the world is a patriarchy that oppress women and privilege men and therfore gender equality should be about women's rights only (because feminism assume men have all the rights already) and fighting sexism is about fighting misogyny (because feminism assume misandry can't exist because men have all the power).

Feminism is not a fundamentally benign movement with some flaws, or some hypocrite members. It is the other way round: it is a basically flawed movement, infested with misandry, with some exceptions calling themselves feminists but arguing in a reasonable way.

Feminism has always been misandrist at its core. Don't believe the propaganda. Look deeper. Allowing people to be sexist assholes is a feature of feminism, not a distortion of it.

(And yes, I acknowledge there are good feminists too, who are truly egalitarian, but they are very much at the fringe.)

No one knows how to be decent anymore, and those of us who do are silenced or ridiculed or told we're "soft". I'd rather be soft than a piece of shit that looks down on others and doesn't see it as a problem.

I doubt misandry can be stopped when we are using a pendulum system. The momentum needed to get movement will always send the pendulum past the point of equilibrium.

I can't remember who said it, it might have even been someone on this sub. But the theory is that pointing out misandry is falsely perceived as an attack on women, because the logic goes that if bad things are happening to men, it must be mainly women doing those things, right? So then natural response is to defend from this feeling of being called out by repainting the anti-misandrists as misogynists who feel attacked because they can't oppress women anymore. Either because they actually believe that or don't want to accept responsibility.

So the solution seems like three things to me:

Explain that (some) men also contribute
Explain that not all women are misandrists
Explain that the cause of misandry isn't some biological fact of women being evil (as red pill guys would claim), but more likely socio-cultural, meaning something can be done about it.

I’ve come to have my own appreciation for feminism but I agree, especially with the whole segment about Asian men treated poorly.
