My ex-wife divorced me after 19 yrs of marriage. Said she wanted to be single and free, now she has to work 60+hours a week to make ends meet... When we were married she worked 32 hrs... now you're free to work your ass off to survive.. hey at least she got herself her first tattoo... at 52 yrs old

Whenever I see old ladies (really old) working in retail I think that's what happened. They're weak and slow and unskilled and I always think to myself: She probably sat at home while the kids were in school 35 hours a week and she was watching soap operas and "doing the hardest job in the world". Great now work in your 70s to pay rent.
[–]KingZorc97 points98 points99 points 7 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link
To be fair, having worked retail, the vast majority of those 60+ in retail are doing it for insurance, extra money, or to stay away from their husband/wife. They're basically all retired and work the max allowed before it screws with their SS. Worked with a 70 year-old guy that received 2 pensions + SS and still worked just to fund his various expensive hobbies and stay active.
[–]starkfuture22 points23 points24 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
On the flip side, women - staying active and having hobbies. Good one.
[–]KingZorc10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's why I mentioned that only in relation to the guy. I honestly have no clue what an elderly/retired woman would do with their free time. He travels to buy reptiles, guns, and WWII memorabilia.

Fair enough.
[–]MattFoley794 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I could see myself doing this. I don't like having too much free time. I basically just waste it.

[–]KingZorc8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
There is definitely an issue with the elderly refusing to give up their positions and retire. For those that can retire, they should just to open up those jobs and everyone can theoretically move up one rung.
The problem for those that can't retire, is everyone is living way longer than they planned when born in the 50's and earlier. Cost of living is also going up, especially with food. So they put away X amount for retirement expecting to live into their early to mid 70's at a reasonable cost of living. Now they have to work longer to account for the inflated costs and them living into their 80's and 90's.

there is a teacher here who retired from the district at 60ish and then the fucking city gives him a job running the public works crew or some shit. this dude wears suspenders and has a big ol gut. they could have hired an able bodied young man in his mid 20s-30s that could actually produce for them, but instead opt to take a guy who could have a stroke or HA any day cuz he wont make it to retirement working for the city. not to mention he's a cunt. some clay was donated for the men's softball league and this dude uses the tractor and mixes it in with the nasty grass clippings even though he knew what it was there for and it was ok'd.

[–]Itsbbbitch-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah but those are men. Women have no hobbies, avoid paying for anything unless they have no man to pay for them, and their idea of keeping active is sitting around on the couch drinking and gossiping with other old bitches.

If only they knew what a business was... Then they would be rolling in dough and work a couple of hours less.
[–]KingZorc11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
The two elderly I was closest with didn't have to work at all. The aforementioned 70 year-old guy was clearing over 70k a year in pension money alone. His wife also had a million in savings so it's not like he had to ever work after retiring. Another was some woman also in her 70's and she was even wealthier than him as she received a lot of money from multiple dead husbands. We were all convinced she was a black widow.

[–]KingZorc9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
That's mainly because they got into companies or jobs when they actually paid well and offered good benefits. His pensions came from the military and teaching. Worked with plenty of people that had one or two degrees and was crushed by the recession.

[–]Infinitewisdom198417 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
She most likely blames her husband for why she "had to leave him" and thus her working 60hr weeks isn't her fault for leaving her husband, but his fault for "making her".
But he didn't support her adventures. C'mon bruh, Instagram requires work.
She never took her marriage vows seriously

Girls straight up don’t fucking get it. I work Construction and my ex pretty much thinks that once I get home it’s a big reset. Nope. Tired from the day. Also also those long hours are what’s allowed me to spoil her all those nights/weekends out. Not that she ever bloody noticed.

I talk to people for 10 to 12 hours a day at work. Constantly talk. I find it exhausting and when i get home I'm not the chattiest person and I want some down time for at least the first hour.
Not one lf exes seemed to understand this.
[–]teslaistheshit1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dead on. My ex had the impression that my 10-12 hour work day was just sitting around talking with friends, while she was slaving away watching Oprah as the kids watched their videos. She now gets to work each day, pay her own rent/bills. In 17 months she'll lose her child support, which will be huge as she's already living beyond her means. I do wonder if she's ever realized how bleak her future truly is.
[–]TheLastMgtow63 points64 points65 points 7 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link
Why the hell would you work 12 hour shift for someone else? What does that say about you? Dont be a slave and expect to be treated like a king. Dont play that game go mgtow. The very same reason why these men do this is the reason why women are the way they are and society has reached this point in history.
[–]japadaUu28 points29 points30 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, but most men have been raised with that mindset. Sad.
[–]VitalMixofNutrients17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]Thrwwwwaway62 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Is this a popular opinion? I'm red/blackpilled because I went to a public, coed school. I fail to see how limiting interaction wouldn't make young guys want relationships even more.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed. I went to a boys only high school and, while it helps you concentrate more in class (I'd imagine), you get very toey. On the plus side, I think it made me pretty awkward with girls too, which I hated at the time but probably stopped me making some horrible mistakes looking back.
[–]TheLastMgtow5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We have been raised? We have been indoctrinated since primary school to be that way. Otherwise this would all crumble anyways.
Or you think we could just all go live like happy hunter gatherers like the native americans. And women cant keep the wheels of society turning anyways.
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
In the 50s you could work like a slave and come home to being treated like a king. Now it’s just endless slavery.
[–]TheLastMgtow10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thats is controversial. A lot of these men felt scammed and were never treated like kings, the ones who knew, others just felt something was off. Others beat their wives. You are working 24/7 for a female with female nature, its not like she respects you "slave", she will only pretend. And things become transparent after a while. That the female who has this man working for her, doesnt respect him, or feel attracted to him. But she does respect and feel attracted to domination, and unfortunately hybristophilia is a thing. Im not justifying anything. Im merely stating the fact that the 50's, were bad for men too. And for those who want the traditional times back, they are like the Cypher who wants to still have that tasty meat, even know they know its a lie. But perhaps, that would be a good thing for society, and the families. As for the individual and free man, i dont know... after all a mgtow wants to be free.
[–]fasterfind2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think it's less about freedom and more about not putting up with AWALT BS. It's not like they actively subjugate us. It's almost entirely voluntary do to our own hard wiring.
[–]TheLastMgtow1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes in part. Would you go back in the plantation for a nawalt? A lot of mgtows have vast experience with women. Its not like they will go back after learning they cant be happy stuck with 1 female. Think about that. Mgtow is more natural than you think. In nature there is no such a thing a nawalt.
[–]No_Weekend4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hate the work culture those guys create. Working unpaid overtime, not having water at your station, no real breaks/lunch, no music/entertainment of any sort if it's dead is the expectation.

[–]jointventuredan0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]TheLastMgtow9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
There is nothing more submissive than a man who works a 12 hour shift to sustain is wife, because "because thats the right thing to do." And a lot of these men are conservatives who think of themselves as above other men. This is all due to the fact they feel low if they dont have a purpose, too bad this world took care of that, and is ready to take advantage of that subservience.
Men should work as least as possible. Your time is the most valuable thing you have. The least your work the less taxes you pay. All you need to be happy is a sport and healthy food, thats cheap and you dont need to be selling your soul for that. If you like your job, work. But I would say, the least you can work, and the least you depend on, for your happiness, the more free you ARE.
Other than that. Remember, that if all men had a standard, and weren't such a bitches fighting for a bone thrown at them, perhaps we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
[–]NVCowboy0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
As a conservative, I resent your statement that we think of ourselves "as above over men". I did buy into taking personal responsibility for myself and my family, which has NOTHING to do with feeling superior to others. Having a purpose is not a bad thing in my world.
Regarding men working "as least as possible", to each their own. I do have a job that I enjoy, pays well, and allows me the ability to provide for my kids. I think this is where it's great that you've found your way, but maybe realize that there is more than one path to follow.
[–]TheLastMgtow2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I said "a lot of" conservative people.
I did buy into taking personal responsibility for myself and my family, which has NOTHING to do with feeling superior to others. Having a purpose is not a bad thing in my world.
It depends dude. If it stems from helping those you love yeah. If it stems from, manning up and doing whatever it takes feel above, just because, even when the prize is just a bone then you get why it is not always good. Competition is good, but being a bitch is not good. And the reason why this system is the way it is, is precisely because men are too cheap and easy, and will do whatever for too little, and i understand everyone needs to survive and everyone wants to win, but then if you see the big picture then we are all just sheep.
All dogs want the bone, and thats why the bone is so expensive, and thats why men submit. The same applies to the context of dating. Too many simps, and so men are afraid to be replaced so they cuck and do whatever it takes. And this is just the beginning...
So these things stem from fear. Fear of being alone, fear for your ego, etc... So if you think that the only things you need to be happy are really just healthy food and a sport you like, then perhaps a lot of the hustling makes no sense.
Having a purpose is definitely not a bad thing. And i never said it is. But sometimes your purpose enslaves you. A lot of men have no purpose if they have no woman. They cant deal with it. A lot of men their purpose is their wife. And later on the kids. Think about that.
And talking about purpose. The purpose of some men has nothing to do with money or providing for a family. Some men gave their lives for their athletic achievements even dying to do so. Others gave it all for arts, or some intelectual stuff, or other passion. You get the idea... I still think a man should find his passion and his true purpose instead of finding external purposes, be that a wife, a family, kids, or political ideals. But some people really need a religion of some sort. I need my sport, and thats my religion. But of course if you have a family, or kids then that will always come first. This is maybe the reason im mgtow, so i stay on my purpose.
[–]CeleritySteam0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
He's confusing conservative with tradcuck. There is significant overlap though so it's an understandable mistake.
With that said automatically associating purpose with a thot is a sign of a tradcuck. If you also slave away for gynocentrism while claiming you are against the damages it caused... you might be a tradcuck.
If you are fighting for western civilization or even just yourself, starve the beast. Don't give them your mind, minimum effort and minimum taxes.
[–]TheLastMgtow0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I have some conservative ideals. But i cant define myself as conservative because it collides with my mgtow beliefs. I actually won't define myself as anything specifically that stems from collectivism. Im going my own way, and im on my own, and thats what i want. Everything i talk about when it comes to politics these are speculations and philosophy. I dont care if the world burns.
[–]CeleritySteam0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Friend helped his wife pay off all her credit card debt after they married. Took a few years. She decided she wanted to start spending $ left and right. Essentially, she didn't want to live within her means. Friend told her, sure you can buy stuff. But we need to budget for it so we don't run up debt again. She got mad he was "controlling her". Went out and cheated. They end up getting divorced. Agree to split the cost of the divorce. Comes time to file the paperwork and such. She demands he pay her half, because she can't afford it. She's back to being up to her eyeballs in debt. Wonder how long it took her to find another dude to sucker in to paying her bills?

"Stay at home wife" (edit: or "stay at home husband") has to be one of the most pathetic titles to have. Unless you are medically unable to get out of the house and work to support you and your partner, you're just lazy.

[–]Sandbagicus68 points69 points70 points 7 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
I disagree. My mother was stay-at-home mom. She helped get 4 kids out of bed and driven to school every AM, after cooking a big breakfast. Then she'd come back home and do housework (laundry for 6 people, various errands to keep the house stocked and clean, etc) and have a big-ass'd home-cooked meal ready for my dad and us when he got home from work. Every single day. Without complaint. The 4 siblings have stayed out of debt and jail and we all got college degrees and good jobs too.
Different from my SAH ex-wife, who did very little except kid care, was a horrible cook and never failed to remind me - after my 10 hr days- that she'd done a load of laundry. Bitched constantly.

A different generation, with acceptable (un-inflated) expectations and a sense of duty for the role.
My father still wonders why I'm MGTOW. His current LTR has been over a decade (longer than any marriage he had), and keeps telling me to find a woman like her. And I say.
"Dad, if I tried to find a woman like her, I'd be dating a woman in her 70's. They simply don't exist anymore."
[–][deleted] 33 points34 points35 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]Sandbagicus1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
high school age?? wtf lol
[–]Sandbagicus1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
might've been earlier, i can't remember. It was 30+ years ago lol. Plus my dad did well financially so there was no real need for my mom to earn $$$. It was a different time. Back then, kids weren't ditched by their parents in pursuit of the almighty dollar as quickly as parents do today. "Latchkey kids" didn't exist when I was growing up.
[–]japadaUu18 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Same here. My mom took care of 6 kids, worked 20 years as teacher for private school we attended (little money but other perks), sewed own clothes, did gardening, drove us everywhere....on and on. And spent as little as humanly possible along the way.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Fair enough if that's been your experience but my thoughts come primarily from my own. My mother and father both worked full time (my dad a little more than my mother) and she would still perform the various house chores when she was home. As I and my brother got older we started to help so she could rest more but from the household I grew up in, whenever a 'stay at home wife' wife is mentioned the first woman I think of is my own mother who could have very well done the same thing but instead chose to work full time alongside it. That's probably why I have a pretty strong opinion on it so I suppose it's just based on experience because from what you described your mother is quite obviously not lazy and had a lot more kids to look after.
Edit: Besides, the image in the OP doesn't even mention children. From that, it appears as though it was quite simply a relationship with one working and the other at home without duties.
[–]Sandbagicus2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
oh yeah, I agree that just staying home - No Kids!! - is lazy AF. I.E. the exact opposite of our parents.
[–]Svartanatten0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

[–]flee_market5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You're kidding right? Maybe in a world without videogames that would be a challenge. They practically take care of themselves as long as you sit them down in front of a PC, smartphone, or gaming console and remember to occasionally feed them.
[–]e-mess3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
By "taking care" I didn't mean "make sure they won't kill themselves but otherwise give no fuck about their development".

I was a babysitter once and I regret this because I did it for the money, but I just let the kids play video games and tricked the mom who went shopping.

Minecraft? Are you like a teenager or something?
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I personally don’t play video games at all. That’s what the kid wanted to do, while I’m not a father I’ve learned that if you let a kid do what they want to do (within reason), they’re pretty chill. It’s when some idiot adult tries to “assert dominance” or “make a point” that things turn into a dumpster fire.

Not if it's done right. If you have more than three children one of you has to stay home guaranteed. Homemakers have to cook clean garden do laundry essentially maintain the home and the children. Now of course staying motivated all-the time seems to be a huge problem but technically a homemaker who cooks and takes care of three children If you hired out all the work she does you'd be paying close to 3K a month. There was a reason mothers of the past we're constantly glued to the kitchen because you're literally cooking all day if you have more than three people to cook for.
Yeah I can understand it if you have a lot of kids, not much choice at that point.
[–]teslaistheshit-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Nope. All you have to do is get a prepped meal and warm the oven up. Get a maid. It's not rocket science to reduce timed tasks.
[–]sphinx26261 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Forgot the 2k daycare bill ;)... or once there 5 and older the perfect 9-5 job to sync w. Thier schedules.. I believe latchkey is roughly 10 to $20 per hour?
So roughly sixty extra dollars per day per child. So roughly another $300 per week. So an extra 1200 in after school care per month.
Okay prep meals service for four so be looking at a meal service you're looking at around another 1.5k per month
Maid to clean? Or maid to raise children??...cause now youve added in such a wide variance of fees
So just child costs of feeding + inbetween care roughly 2.7k per month...now add on fees to live.
So ya feel free to walk me through your financial way again.
Cause this is devoid the amount of money needed to maintain a property.

I'd rather have a stay at home wife. More she's out there, the better the chance she has at screwing around. Just let the right guy come in at the right time....and booom...cucked.

That's the thing, with social media, you never have to go out to socialize, and well, look where we are now.
Smh there ain't no winning

I'd be fine with a stay-at-home wife and mom to my kids, if she takes care of me and our home, cooks, cleans, is nice, demure, kind, caring, never insult or argue or disagree or disrespect me. Also, we have sex whenever and however I want.
but unicorns don't exist.

they are overpaid maids and cooks
100% agree. I got blasted on another reddit post about men being stay at home dads and complaining about how it's harder than work. I would reply they should just get a job and put their kid in daycare if it was so hard and got all kinds of down votes.

My mother tells me to not marry because there are too many bitches around and she doesn't want me getting scammed by one of them. To me she IS a saint. Had an hard life but still managed to stay positive, gave every fiber on her body to make sure I was red and studied. My dad left her for another woman but still told me to not hate him nor his sons/daughters. That's how man-woman relationship should be. Both male and female parents are important for the kid upbringing. And if you have a fallout, be still civil nor gold-diggin live destroyer and man hater.
As I know I can't find a woman like that sadly (time have Indeed changed) I will stay single but still enjoying my life, following my dreams and enjoying my hobbies (Also petting my dog)
[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Marriage to me is just a risk now. Judicial system favors women.
I'd known a girl my entire life and I believed she was one of the most perfect people. Caring, good morals/values, great family I loved being around and everything you could want. She didn't work and I had to constantly support her. She basically went off with some other guy, lied to me about it and continued doing it. I left her and didn't look back. This is someone I knew since I was a young teen for 10+ years and she'd never once gave a sign she could do that.
Got her out of my life and now she has to work long hours serving in a small bakery and tried to message me numerous times whilst that guy is sleeping. It was no bad judgement of mine.

Female empowerment and "emancipation" was invenent by neocon/lib capitalists, zionists and globalist.
And it's only for the west.
My sympathies to women, once proud creatures and companions, subjects of tales and cultural romantization,
Now reduced to these walking braindead husks
[–]Itsbbbitch6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
And it's only for the West
No, it's not. With Hollywood they just have to concentrate on the West and let the media spread the cancer. That's what "Americanization" means.
Women everywhere are born evil worthless miserable deficient human beings. Each country emphasizes it's own particular brand of hellish female qualities. China, India, Spain, Russia ... All the women everywhere have their own personal form of suckage. Now add Western propaganda slowly being taught over the decades via American movies and TV shows. The formula just grows worse and worse with every generation of women world-wide.

As someone who's gladly not living in the west, I can tell you that you are not entirely correct.

[–]Brother_Judas1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Oh, man sorry if I will seem offensive, but Singapore has been tainted by the west and consumerism. You know this.
Btw, I didn't say you were wrong entirley, but you can't just cast all women like that. I believe the devils we deal with are corrupted versions of females which used to be much more based and rational.
Want proof? Go to a rural village and talk to any older or even younger girls
[–]Itsbbbitch0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I don't mind at all. We were colonized by the British, and as much as America and Australia try to pretend otherwise they are also essentially British colonies operating under a different name. That's why I say through TV and movies, they spread the cancer to the rest of the world. As a Commonwealth nation I can see it happening on real time, and it's also spreading to Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. But hey even if it wasn't, our women were already a nightmare to live with from the get-go.

You know you’re right about this I was on a date the other day with an older woman and you know what she wanted me to do after?
PUT WINDSHIELD FLUID IN HER CAR!!!!
She has that older Jewish woman complex where she plays helpless victim who needs her mamas boy son to do basic shit. But at the same time thinks she has all the answers to someone’s life.
God DAMN that was a mistake.
She had bad gas too. I kept walking behind her in Target and figured out it was her.

[–]Frantastiq3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I can’t understand how there are still relationships like that. I mean, you gotta have the decency, empathy and love to comprehend that your husband is fucking tired and just wants to relax watching some series and movies. What’s so wrong about that? If you respected him, you could go and watch tv with him, prepare some awesome dinner that you both enjoy and be on a healthy relationship all together. Why do women have to relay, depend and demand so much from men? (I’m a 19 year old female btw, hope you don’t mind)
[–]fasterfind4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think the most likely explanation is that she expected him to go to her as an act of sacrifice and love, and felt that him going in any other direction was isolationism. The thought that she could join him and have a wonderful time watching TV... that thought didn't occur to her.
She probably expected him to do all the planning for going out and relaxing on the weekends, and may have silently resented that. Don't silently resent anything, go talk it out with your guy and you'll find solutions.
You have the right kind of thinking, you can have good relationships. Don't lose that.

This is something reddit routinely forgets when it comes to relationship advice.
[–]BertTheWelder1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Marriage used to be a partnership with a fairly equal division of labor to keep the household running. It wasn’t that long ago that microwaves and frozen food didn’t exist. It took time and effort to make meals for the family. Dishes and laundry was done by hand. Housework was real work. A woman took care of that and the child raising and the man paid for it all through his labor.
Fast forward to the 1960’s. Electric appliances and other technological advancements took a lot of the work out of keeping a house. Women started to get bored because they now had a bunch of free time.
Then feminism fucks up the whole deal. Tells women that they can and should succeed in the work place and that being a homemaker isn’t noble or worthwhile.
Fast forward to today. We have a generation of unhappy women who don’t know how to keep a house, work jobs they don’t really want to work, and are facing the same challenges in the workplace men always faced. But they don’t have a partner at home to do the housework so that suffers. Enter wine and antidepressants.
I’m not even saying you have to have traditional gender roles. Life is easier if one partner handles the home front and the other handles working and paying for it all. If I was gay, I’d be looking for a dude that wanted to handle all the house stuff. Women really fucked up by demanding to get in the workforce. Once they did, they found out that the majority of jobs just plain suck. But that genie isn’t going back in the bottle.
