Marvel Studios is where it is because primarily of the "men and boys" who are into Marvel and Super hero films, then Disney got on board fair enough they want to reach everyone, but then somehow someone convinced them that catering for women more is ideal, just like Star Wars.... then Wonder Woman did awesome in the box office because of the hype and now Marvel Studios got the memo that they MUST push female super heroes.... thus Captain Marvel being pushed as the next most powerful hero in the MCU.
Plenty of nerdy men dont see it yet, they are excited and so am I a bit because I love the MCU but I can smell it.... would not surprise me to see more female heroes leading the pack.
BUT... female ensemble movies have done mediocre to poor lately (Ghostbusters, Ocean's 8 etc) so I think Marvel Studios need to realize that men, teenage boys don't really like seeing male characters take a back seat forcibly for the sake of pushing an agenda.... their wallets do the talking

I searched for this, I swore it was in Winter Soldier but maybe not. I do remember this in Age of Ultron though. At 3:50 she throws caps shield to him one handed while he’s fighting Ultron on top of a moving 18 wheeler. She also picked up the shield one handed off the ground while she was on the motorcycle. She also tag teamed Ultron with cap @ 4:00, wielding his shield like it weighed 15 pounds.

I just looked it up and used this video to help. But His shield in the MCU is only made of vibranium. In the comics it was made from a combination of Adamantium and vibranium. If was the comics, Black Widow throwing it around and using it would be impressive. But since it's only vibranium in the movies it's very doable. According to the video it's a third the weight of steel. So it's probably about 30 pounds if that.

At least Infinity War had the common sense to kick Hawkeye to the curb for being an absolute jobber. Competent by normal human standards, but has no business fighting Thanos-tier shit.
THREE times as many male characters got dusted as female characters, meaning until the reset button is hit that undoes Infinity War, the proportion of any team is going to be far more heavily women-centric. I'm not saying that women don't have their place in comic books, but this is clearly a nod to the feminist demographic telling them "see? this can be for YOU too!". Given that those feminists are complaining about how a dead man had more lines than a woman who's getting her own movie (I don't recall Eyepatch getting HIS movie) in a trailer, once again we see that attempts to woo SJW types to like them, or at least hate them less, ends up being counter-productive.

If you look at it again, then don't gloss over Merry's part, either. He sneaked behind the Nazgûl, fought against his entire aura of fear, and stabbed him in the back with an Elven blade, making him fall to his knees. Yes, Éowyn was then the one who finished the job after making her silly comment, but she would have completely failed and died shivering on the ground without Merry.
In the books, as someone else mentioned, Tolkien did a much better job of portraying that scene. Her dialogue is also different. It's true that it's annoying that she stole that scene with that silly one-liner in the movie, but this one act of heroism on Merry's part is what made him a hero of legend for all the people of Gondor, and completely changed the fate of men. When he's also recuperating with Éowyn after being affected by the Witch-King's curse, he's shown as much dignity and respect as any of the other princes and nobles as the knight of Rohan that he is, until the point where he leaves for the Shire with the other hobbits. It was a great achievement for both Merry and Éowyn, and only came about because Éowyn felt left out by Théoden and chose to bring Merry along. Had she not done so, then mankind would have perished at Gondor and Frodo would have failed. She deserves some credit.
It's fine to allow some unrealistic portrayals of women in media, to a certain extent. She wasn't amazingly more skilled than everyone else, she wasn't doing suplex with men three times her weight. She was just an average knight, with slightly above-average swordsmanship technique that came as a result of over a decade of practice, who made one extremely good and fateful decision in bringing a hobbit along, and who happened to be at the right place, at the right time. This is an entirely correct portrayal of a female knightly character, in my opinion.
But yeah, Spielberg kinda ruined the scene with that cheesy one-liner.

But when Tolkien writes "man", he means "human". The race of men encapsulates all of the human race in LotR. A dwarf, elf, hobbit, wizard etc. would have had to have killed him - not a wo-MAN. Merry stabbing him with the blade enchanted to fight the Witch King was half the work. Eowyn finished him. It’s a comment on hubris—the Witch King of Angmar was brought down, in the end, by being a prideful jackass not watching his back.
Just like Sauron.
Anyway, Eowyn gets a pass, IMO. She’s a shield maiden, raised from childhood to be a warrior and having the same training as her brother. It’s not like all the Rohirrim are women, and she’s her own character, not just ‘strong, independent woman.’ She’s so single-minded about it that Aragorn even observes she doesn’t actually love him, but wants in on his adventures and sees him as a way out of the palace.

Venom is basically owned by Sony right now, in terms of movie appearances. In fact, from what I understand, the Venom movie isn't even going to be connected to Spider-Man. It's part of some deal Disney and Sony worked out where they can use any Spider-Man character... except for Spider-Man. So now Sony is trying to make their own cinematic Spider-Man universe full of Spidey-specific characters like Kraven and Morbius, but Pete isn't going to be anywhere in this new canon.

Nah, its been broken down and discussed a tonne, but the general consensus revolves Pym Particles and the Time Stone, theres a good few theories with lots of evidence from Antman and the Wasp and Infinity War to support it.
Considering that there is a Spiderman 2 in the works etc and that Marvel wont kill their cash cow superhero movies (Black Panther and whoever else died in the Snappening), theyre gonna have to reverse time somehow to bring the dusted heroes back.
Not saying Captain Marvel wont save shit though, but yeah, MCU is definitely more clever than that.

That battle scene at Wakanda was such a shitshow of idiocy. Like there wasn't a single thing right with it. There was no strategy, no assigned roles to particular people with particular skill-sets, nothing. No, they just put everyone in a big line and yelled "FOR SCOTLAND!" before all running dick-first into a horde of monsters. When you've got Black Widow charging in alongside the Hulkbuster armor as if they were both going to contribute equally to the fight, then you need to go back and rewrite the script a few more times. I swear, what's even the point of having a team of superhumans if some rail-thin broad who took some self-defense lessons is of equal value in a fight?
The moment I realized I was watching the "most advanced nation on the planet" attack an alien menace with infantry blocks and spears like it was the fucking 1600s, I also realized that I wouldn't be coming back to watch the sequel. Spears and shields? Really, T'Challa? Really? That's what you're working with? I thought maybe you've give your soldiers some vibranium body armor or hook them up with some vibranium-coated tanks or, shit, just come up with any kind of fortified position at all. But apparently the king of Wakanda's big scheme involved... waiting for the snazzy shield to crap out and then just duking it out in the middle of a field like a couple of soccer hooligans.
And I know, I know, "It's a comic book movie, you're overthinking it." But I've got a pretty decent ability to switch off my brain during these kinds of things, and even in full vegetable mode I was slapping my forehead over this nonsense.
And after all is said and done, their big teaser at the end is that Captain Marvel is coming. Oh great, Marvel's greatest cosmic dyke is going to be in the next movie soaking up tons of screentime that could be going to characters that aren't pushing an agenda with their very existence. But hey, who wants quality when you could have people with vaginas doing things and acting sassy about it?
