I want to believe, but is there a source for this? It doesn't look like it's true. I looked up Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, and they appeared to be living with their married biological parents at the time of their death.

I'm Australian, we don't have a very big gun culture down here. That said, I live out in the sticks where there is a lot more use of guns than there is in a city area, so gun safety is practised, even by secondary school kids since most of them live out in farms and such.

My personal belief is that most people don't need to use a gun for whatever reason, but that's my belief of this country, not any other country.

I had a conversation with a friend about this whole gun issue in the US and he's adamant that the problems will be solved by taking away all the guns and not by improving mental health services and ensuring that people don't grow up in broken homes in the first place.

So I put forth an interesting fact, that most murders in certain countries are committed using various kinds of knives, such as a cane knife. In these certain countries, the choice of weapon being a cane knife is popular because it's the most easily accessible weapon people have.

Of course... my friend didn't quite understand where I was going with this so I had to spell it out.

Even if you take the guns away, it doesn't actually solve the underlying problem, the fact that you have people growing up in broken homes with no male authority figure to mentor them and as a backup, no access to mental health services that can help the ones who do need it.

But nope. Take the guns, that'll solve all the world's problems. It's apparently as simple as that.

I've seen the blame cast towards religion, masculinity, republicans, mental health, and even video games and movies, there are lots of reasons people like shooting at each other, has anyone else seen the complaints about a lack of war? We as a society LOVE sending young men and women into a certain death, and the news reflects this
