Every Sunday, my family gets together for dinner. Last night my aunt and uncle hosted. At dinner, my stepmother revealed that she had gone for a hike with her female friend. Apparently her friend spent the entire time complaining about her messy divorce. The friend is quite successful; she's a VP at a small bank. Apparently, in the divorce her ex-husband got the house and the kids because she was cheating on him. Now the ex-husband could be quite successful too (he has an MBA from Wharton), but he—after he was laid off a year ago—now chooses not to work, and rather just wants to spend time with his kids, and live off his savings. Apparently he has also taken her to court 3 times and is getting both alimony and child support payments. In other words, he won the divorce.

What made me laugh was how my stepmom kept going on and on about "what a loser scumbag he is," and that "he needs to be a man and get a job." My response was, "wow it sounds like this guy has a great lawyer, he managed to do what most women do in a divorce." This made my dad and uncle laugh. The remainder of dinner was rather uncomfortable.
