It threatens the way they've organized their life and their self-image. By calling marriage and relationships into question, you are implicitly challenging the way they've set up their life, the things they value the most, the things they believe in. It's not surprising that MGTOW gets a lot of flak. We're basically thumbing our noses at what most people think are the central purposes of life.

It gets interpreted as women not having value like they thought they did. In 2020 a monogamous relationship with a woman is not required. Especially if you don't want children.

It also communicates you believe more harm than good will come from being with a woman. It's a net negative to your account. Of course women think they have value, no matter the evidence against it.

I think it's because people are not comfortable with those who don't do the same things as most do. I've run into that prejudice in other areas of my life that have nothing to do with MGTOW.

People are expected to conform and those who refuse to do so are hated for it regardless of what it is they aren't conforming to.

Some of the MGTOW newbies who are still in red pil rage mode love to pick fights with women online in a way that is counter productive.
I'm not a fan of playing language police but some of the language used by MGTOW (specifically the first sub reddit) is straight up misogynistic. I got down voted once because one guy was calling women sperm-toilets and cum-dumpsters (and not within an erotic setting). Nope, this is truly what he thought of women 24/7. So I asked a simple question. If you had a daughter, would you want her hanging around guys who thinks like think like that? I got banned for being a "white knight" 🙄
The average man and woman don't know much about the manosphere/red pill/MGTOW and so the first contact they get is the mainstream media, or feminist types telling them what it is and showing them comments like the above. Of course they will hate MGTOW.
Some Mgtow's think they have gone there own way but in reality they are just grumpy dudes who are sitting right outside the restaurant of life, bitching about how the food sucks, instead of going their own way and finding a new source of food so to speak.
That's why when feminists mock MGTOW, their common insult is "Go your own way already"
The guys who are truly MGTOW aren't wasting their lives bitching about women on the internet on a daily basis. They'll share what made them go MGTOW and drop in every now and then to check on the bros.
Some of the MGTOW guys are quite arrogant when they say they've rejected society when in reality, they are MSTOWs (Men sent their own way). Low value men and incels who society never noticed in the first place.

If lots of men go their own way then there will be a lot less men paying for womens lives - these women will then have to actually fend for themselves and that goes against the duplicity that the feminists have indoctrinated our young women to believe.

I believe it's called the graduation effect. Redpill has some important life take aways but can easily turn into misogyny. Just visir r/MGTOW thers an owerwhelming amount straigth up woman hating posts, heck that smut is even leaking into this place. And that is not a good loock for this community because straigth up womanhating is more of an incel thing and we all know what kind of a reputation those guys have.

The shittiest part of this all is that media and other groups also try to slander or straigth up lie about the real intentions and ideas that MGTOW holds.

All that combined adds up to a not so good public image, atleast for the average human, and misrepresentation that led you to creating this post in the first place.
