Simple question.

You're doing dread game, giving distance and reducing affection after she does something to displease.

The ideal situation is that you maintain frame and outcome independence for a significant period of time, or until she makes it up to you.

What happens when she outright asks, "are you mad?" Or "what's wrong?" Or "did my doing X upset you?" What about when she drops the "let's talk about this" or "I'm not a mind-reader"?

You're pulled into her frame where you either have to explain how nothing's wrong, and you're definitely not being more distant, which defeats the point of dread, or you outright state what's wrong, which makes you come across as passive-aggressive.

I've been justifying my 'being mad' by saying "I'm not mad, just disappointed", and going on to explain how she disappointed, but that's tedious and still falling into her frame.

How do you maintain frame in the face of overt, seemingly reasonable discussion?
