It depends on what you mean by "afraid of the repercussions." If there's a threat of violence, a significant age disparity (such as between a teacher and a student), blackmail or other coercion, it could be. If a party consents to sex simply because they might get made fun of or something if they don't, probably not.

I've been thinking in the past couple of years this has become more common in tv shows; like when Jordan uses intimidation and her postion of power on JD in scrubs to sleep with him, and more recently in a show my sister was watching called new girl on of the female characters says she'll go to the cops and say the male character tried to rape her if he didn't sleep with her (don't know the character names it was on the background whilst on my laptop)

If what you mean is men feeling coerced with threat of retaliation for failure to comply, into sexual activity in which he would not otherwise choose to participate, then yes, that is rape. If you mean giving someone the hard sell (pressure) in an attempt to persuade, then no.

Coercion =/= persuasion.

Persuasion aims for a change of heart or mind. Persuasion, even involving pressure like begging or guilt tripping, can be refused without fear of damaging reprisal. Giving into that is like giving in to peer pressure or persistent sales tactics. It's a free choice, with refusal not carrying the threat of damaging consequences.

Coercion aims to achieve the desired goal by instilling fear; threatening victim with some form of retaliation upon refusal. Giving in to that is like giving in to having a gun pointed at your head. It's not a free choice; refusal requires willingness to risk damaging consequences. As with force, the use of coercion to bypass someone's right to refuse sex, is rape.

Yes that would be rape. No, I doubt any man has gone to the police over it (the cops would probably arrest him).

Of course that is rape, or as society calls it 'coming of age'.

There are quite a few films where a young male character has not wanted to have sex but did so because his peers would otherwise chastise him for it. Being pressured into sex is never a good thing.

My understanding is that a reasonable person will have interpreted a threat in order for it to be considered rape.

I'm sure there have been cases where men have slept with women because they were afraid that, if they didn't, they would be branded as impotent, weak, unmanly or homosexual(all labels which would hurt that man socially and/or sexually) and cases where men have slept with women because they were threatened with physical violence(direct or via proxy) or other life-altering/life-threatening repercussions. There would also be cases where men would also have sex or be more aggressive because they are afraid of being ridiculed by that woman, or her peers, for not performing to her standards. By feminist standards, this could certainly be twisted as "rape"(if the genders were reversed), but I don't really see it as rape. Rape is a un-consented sexual act that is physically forced onto someone, not something that someone is coerced into. Call it extortion, blackmail, criminal threatening or even terrorism, which are crimes punishable by law(at least in any countries I can think of), but it is not "rape".

Yes, manipulation through force or coercion is rape. Whether that force is personal, social, economic, or governmental (the police) they're all ways to create false consent. It's odd that most people wouldn't even think about this question if the victim were female, they would just say yes. But when the victim is male you get hemming and hawing and any excuse they can think of to avoid allowing them to be victims of sexual crimes. Its depressing and disgusting how often double standards are used for sexual crimes against males.

A male just touching a female's chest is sexual assault, but a female kicking a male in the groin, most of the time, won't even been seen as assault. We live in a world where allowing males to be victims is considered a zero sum game. By admitting that males can suffer the same way takes away from the current social mindset that all males are bad and abusers but never victims.
