The topic of "man spreading" as a common feminist gripe is proof that women generally don't have any real problems in this world.

MRA's complain about unfair custody practices in family court, high male suicide rates and zero fucks given to them when they are victims of domestic abuse...and their valid sentiments are cast down as "misogyny or hate speech" or just out right ignored.

...but no. No... "Man spreading" is the topic being shoved into our faces ad nauseum through rags like buzz feed , the guardian and Tumblr.

I can't believe that women actually complain about this, this is absurd, women do more annoying things in public than that. When i'm on public transport i always put my backpack next to me so no one can sit next to me.

This is not “relatable”. A woman who takes up a seat on crowded public transit for her stuff is objectively an asshole. It’s entirely warranted to ask her to move it, other women wouldn’t tolerate this either. I highly doubt you spend much time on the subway if you are imagining it to be full of entitled women that expect men to move to accommodate their handbags.

The subway is full of men who egregiously spread out. Some of them are obliviously entitled, others are outwardly entitled and hostile. This is entirely relatable.

The subway is also full of men who are extremely courteous. A woman who views all men as manspreaders is just as sexist as the ridiculous comments I see all the time from men who reduce women to silly creatures who shop all day and throw their bags all over the men who work hard to support their families. Entitled women who shop all day are above public transit anyway, they are far more likely to steal your cab.

I’m positive that if I politely asked a man to give up his seat entirely because I wasn’t feeling well he would be happy to do so. Men and women are both quick to give up their seats without being asked for pregnant women, small children or elderly people, but in my observation men are slightly more likely to notice these people. In those awkward situations where two people realize they are both going for the same seat, the man will often insist that the woman take it even if he was closer and she tells him to go ahead. It’s not uncommon for men to offer up their seat to me simply because I am a woman. (which is kind but completely unnecessary and I never take them up on it)

man spreading is REALLY annoying ... some idiots just basically squash you on the train. one guy once had me right up against the wall with his whole arm and leg pressed up against me
