Remember that Southpark episode where the human atheists were fighting a holy war against the otter atheists in the future? The time has come.

Yep, I can't wait for the schisms and sectarianism. "Our logic is superior!"

Otterfacts is a spy!

Oh how I have desperately hoped and patiently waited for something like Atheism Pus for over a year now since elevatorgate. I'm elated the dooshparade of retards from ftb and skepchick have splintered off into their own shitpit of hyper-politically correct dogmatic assholes. Now if only they can promise to stay the fuck away from Randi and my beloved JREF and get Watson aborted off the Skeptic's Guide like a mongoloid fetus, then we could truly rejoice in the great '12 purging of the radfem retards from the skeptic movement that they very nearly managed to destroy.

This comment was epic. Hasta la vista, Femitheists.

I got my popcorn when they first started this shit.
The end times are upon us.
They have inadvertently pushed quite a few atheists into the MRM.
Just a quick look at their main forum is like peering into an insane asylum.

Now you've forced me to stay up and make popcorn, you beautiful fucker.

Yeah, I get the impression it's just going to wind up being a scold for atheism. (Like SRS is for Reddit.)

If they truly cared about sexism they would say "We support Men's Rights".
[–]rottingchrist 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What exactly makes this different from your run-of-the-mill feminism? Few feminists are theists anyway because "religions are patriarchal".
[–]Auldreekie 3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Well the difference is that these people joined the Atheist/Sceptic community. They then started to influence the conventions, to a point where at least 40% of all debates revolved around sexism and misogyny.
Richard Dawkins brushed them off and they labelled him a misogynist and a white supremacist. After a year of fighting between everyone it's finally hitting the fan and they are being debunked by most atheists as psychopaths and religious zealots.
They formed this splinter group to promote feminist atheism and are still being attacked by sceptics.
The result is definitely a positive one for the MRM. Atheists are actually opening their eyes to the misandry. It was pretty stupid of them to think that sceptics wouldn't be sceptical and that they would fold when told it was "for the greater good".

Got a link to more info about this? I hadn't heard about it. Dawkins a white supremacist, what a joke.
I believe this is the original source of the Dawkins controversy.

Rebecca Watson is largely responsible for all this atheism/feminism nonsense in general.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I never heard about the white supremacy thing, but they did label him a misogynist because he mocked Rebecca Watson pretty harshly. To be fair, Dawkins is pretty blunt to anybody he thinks is being a moron...it didn't have anything to do with her gender.

Hahaha, they're for real. Ahhh, I do enjoy a good chuckle.
These sorts of people never fail to surprise me.

atheism plus a lot of socially acceptable ideas
[–]xionaxa 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
and to think this all started because of elevators, free thought blogs banning free thought, and fake jewelry. Among some things.
[–]ignatiusloyola 14 points15 points16 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't think that is why it is posted here. I think it is being posted here to show Atheism being swayed by the ideological feminist community.

A+ is actually a good idea. The vast majority of religious-based sexism is of the anti-woman type.
Restricting abortions, forcing medically unnecessary procedures to be done on women seeking abortions, restricting access to birth control, disallowing women from leadership positions, shaming any women who have a positive view of human sexuality...
And that's just America. In the Middle East, they throw acid on girls, stone them to death for getting raped... so as a concept, a sub-section of atheism devoted to these issues is a good idea.
However, if it gets taken over by feminists and turned into an anti-male group, it'll be worthless. I don't see a lot of evidence of that happening so far though... do you?
[–]Planned_Serendipity 7 points8 points9 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You bet I do, just take the genesis of the movement, Elevatorgate. Wherein you take a whiny feminist add an invitation for coffee and conversation and all of a sudden you have Watson manshaming every male in attendance at the conference. The whole point of Athesim + is the same ole' trope of feminism " men are bad, women are good."
The vast majority of religious-based sexism is of the anti-woman type.
Religions are anti-gay as well as anti-women. Don't you think that the general atheist community is well aware of this and actively campaign against it? I know that those issues are a large part of why I am a supporter of atheism. If the fundies didn't push anti-women and anti-gay governmental policies I would have no reason to even care about religion. (The other two issues I have with fundies are "separation of church and state" and how they are anti-science.)
