In theory, yes. But in practice, it's rare for the father to receive child support from the mother. For several reasons. The court system is heavily biased in favour of the mother. They only tend to award complete custody to the father, if the mothers is a total train wreck. or if she just doesn't give a shit.

First a man has to be awarded custody and in order for that to happen mom has to be a real fuck up in which case, even if the court hits her with child support she won't be able to pay it because she is a real fuck up (probably unemployed and on drugs). The court is less likely to chase her down and throw her in jail than they would a man too.

While it is rare for a man to have custody, it would not affect the need for child support, nor change the responsibility of the non custodial parent.

My mom was ordered to pay child support in NYS. She was still a fucking deadbeat though.

My situation is pretty good. Daughter sees mother on alternate weekends. Opposite of the norm.

As for support I think it is terrible to have to top up the other household for their shortcomings. There was a possibility that I would have had to pay my ex support in an amount that would have put her income greater than mine while my daughtet resided with me.

As adults we are responsible for our own income. Why should that change as a child enters theit life?

Yes, women can be ordered to pay child support, but the courts rarely do anything when she refuses to pay.

I am a man, currently paying child support to my ex wife. I'm also currently in a custody battle to get physical time equalized (50/50) and switch the child support to her paying, because she out-earns me now.

I think my case will be pretty defining for how the courts work in my state... Some interesting points:

In my state there is language in the law specifically disallowing the sex of the parents or child to have relevance in the Court's decision.
I'm former military and "in good standing" (ie, no criminal record, no history of drugs, etc.)
She is also "in good standing"
She now makes more money than I do (unlike during the divorce when the original child support order was made)

So I think this will be a good case-sturdy of how the court acts when there are no exigent circumstances, and the logical way to make the decision favors child support going to the man.

I am a man awarded sole custody of my daughter. The court ordered child support. So yes, it does happen. We do have a system where it’s often skewed in favor of the woman, but when your ex is a meth addict that abandoned three children then sometimes the system sides correctly.

It’s only fair that he gets child support too but there was another post saying women shouldn’t use child support to abuse men so now idk I guess men shouldn’t use child support laws to forcefully take money from women either
