I just wanted to get your opinion on something. I'm getting married in a few months and really don't want to change my last name. I think it's a stupid, sexist tradition, plus I love my last name and have never wanted to give it up. I think it's ridiculous that the woman is just supposed to hand over her name/family heritage, whereas if the guy does that it's somehow demeaning to him. It's utter bullshit, it drives me crazy we still have these sexist ideas in the 21st century. The idea of gender roles is just silly. Anyway, my fiancé would definitely very much appreciate if I took his last name, given the fact that it would show that we were married/unity. It's something he sees as like a sign of our commitment obviously he isn't going up force me into it, but he's disappointed because its one of those things that most men are told about at a young age to expect/look forward to. So while I don't wanna be insensitive and obviously marriage involves compromise, I don't want to compromise my beliefs. I was wondering what your opinion was on the matter and if you had any advice for me?
