Don’t talk about hypergamy?

I read this last night. It isn't "good stuff". It's brilliant. Paul is consistently ahead of his time.

Folks, if we can't talk about hypergamy then that is simply part of the larger problem. Get everything on the table and let the chips fall as they may.

I have found talking about it, even here on Men's Rights, I get a negative reaction. It's like the ugly step cousin nobody wants to acknowledge happened because his parents were siblings.

I'm just pulling this out of my head right at this moment, but here are the reasons I think men get uncomfortable with hypergamy:

1) Being white knights. 2) Being manginas. 3) Are more inclined to be "blank-slate" type people, heavily or totally about nurture and minimizing or rejecting nature. 4) Men who feel it is a blow to their identity. It's hard to accept the reality. Women, certainly wives and in this culture often daughters as well, don't love you fellas. They love what you do for them...what you can produce. Alot of men can't handle that fact...it's too disturbing to them to realize that they are merely "loved" as is a plowhorse or trusty appliance and as soon as they stop producing the masquerade ceases.

Some of the stuff I've seen from MRA's or MRA sites has been saddening (but not surprising). As soon as a female comes around and starts acting friendly the innger mangina or white knight of these supposedly "red pill" men comes out might fast.

As for me, I think talking about the sexes while whistling and looking upwards around the subject of hypergamy is a bit like talking about auto mechanics and pretending no cars have transmissions.

My reaction to "hypergamy" talk is the same as a lot of men's reactions to "ephebophilia" talk - no fucking kidding, welcome to the human race, we tend to be like that, it doesn't automatically make us evil exploiters and the negative characterization of the trait is disproportionate. Also, it ain't never gonna change.

But it sounds like Paul and I define hypergamy pretty differently. I define it as seeking a high status mate (by whatever criteria your culture uses to assign status). He defines it as "the general tendency of women in this culture to better deal themselves at the expense of men, without inhibition by moral constraints or social prohibition."

To my mind, that lumps a couple of problems that aren't inherently part of the hypergamy tendency - just as adults leaving their same-age mates and seducing 15-year-olds is not inherently part of the ephebophilic tendency.

We have problems with divorce law, problems with child custody law, problems we can actually do something about without trying to change human nature.

Sure talk about it, recognize it, understand it, but don't pretend that we can engineer a perfect society or affect hypergamy by changing laws.
