You took their bait, they Strawmaned you and you went with it. You cannot win an argument if you allow them to strawman you. You'll lose every time. By the end of that conversation they were in total control and you lost.

Learn about steelman and make sure you only ever stay on point. Never argue anything but the point, the moment you do you're having several conversations and defending points you never made.

If you must do as I do and just tell them you won't be dealing with arguments that have nothing to do with the point and then get back on point.

Whenever you get into a debate with a group of Feminists: • make sure you got strong points. • be concise and leave no room for them to twist what you said. • call them out when they go off topic or try to deflect/straw-man your argument. • be prepared for the insults to start once they realize you disproved their point.

I also advise you to read the room before you engage in a conversation where there’s groupthink going on because more often than not whatever you say will either fall on deaf ears or make them pushback harder.

It’s actually fucked up. Feminist argumentation is literally just women denying whatever conclusion they want on the basis that they disagree with it emotionally, then try to undermine the evidence and arguments of what it is they disagree with by claiming xyz is biased.

Source: I had a university guest lecture held by PhD feminist philosopher Audrey Yap who argued that race/iq statistics were flawed BECAUSE they didn’t agree with HER WORLDVIEW. She said she has been poking questions at the authors of the paper for months but that they always seem to have an answer or control for whatever methodological issue she thinks she’s found. One of the students asked „isn’t there a point where you have to admit the science is just right and that your only issue is with reality?“ and I shit you not she said no because it makes her feel bad so there must be something wrong with the paper.
