The fifth most upvoted post on /r/MensRights is a chain email joke that makes fun of men, right here.

I laughed at it, despite being the target of the joke. I couldn't believe people could possibly be butthurt over a stupid, predictable joke. So imagine my shock when I checked the comments and people were demanding for the OP to sue the company, try and get the sender fired, and other unnecessary, drastic measures. What the fuck? It's a joke. That's it. Yes, I know that feminists have sued for less, but that's the point. It's the suing that's bad, not the joke.

Men will always make fun of women and women will always make fun of men. We should be trying to make everything fair game, not setting a precedent like this. I am an advocate for gender equality, but not if I have to look over my shoulder every time I tell a joke. We should be pushing for the world we want to live in, and I refuse to believe that any of you want to live in a world where anyone, man or woman, can be fired or sued over a stupid chain email joke. Instead, laugh with the women making fun of you and make fun back. If they call "misogyny" then call them a hypocrite. But do not, for all that is manly in this world, stoop to their level. We want shit like this to end, not create a vicious, vindictive cycle of ruining people's lives over something as insignificant as a joke.
