A family trust. I'm also Aussie and know quite afew well of blokes who have these. You'll need to speak to a lawyer to set it up first, then you'll need to put all your assets in that trust. Transfer it into your mum/dad/sisters name and it becomes basically untouchable.

I was in a relationship in highschool/uni for 2 years. I was living with my parents and when we broke up she asked for money that she had "invested into the relationship". Told her to get stuffed but it was an eye opener for me.

I heard Wyoming is a good state to setup a trust where your assets can be hidden.

Can't you just always do a prenup? At least in the US, I think everyone should have a prenup. I don't have one with my wife, but if I had asked her to sign one then I'm sure she wouldn't have had an issue. If anyone says, "I don't want to sign that." then it's a clear red flag that they're not fully committed. If you're serious about long term monogamy, then there's no reason to have issue with a prenup.

You don't brag about them, you drive a general car and perhaps rent a small apartment that people your age would typically rent...you tell nobody anything, especially girls. That is how you find out if they like you for you, or are using you...but it takes a very long time to find out...years.

So what do most 22 year olds drive? you drive that, what neighborhood or apartment do most 22 year olds live? you live there, or something similar.

The people that brag and flash their wealth are the ones that always get in trouble and have to learn the hard way. It also comes across as low class as well.

Know if your state is a common law state. Common law means if a girl lives with you for long enough, you automatically are considered married and she's entitled to your assets. Texas is one of these states. If you live in one of those, I'd suggest considering if living with a girl is worth it

Fundamentally speaking, you should rethink the whole “child support can be minimized” approach. This is pure douche bag thinking. Your kids should benefit from your success to the fullest extent possible and this should be your goal. Your life decisions with women should not negatively impact them.

That aside, there is nothing wrong with protecting premarital assets from a spouse. This is always done through legal documentation in consideration with local law. Premarital asset exclusion varies widely, but it does require the future spouse to consent. Without that, you can simply choose to remain unmarried.

Keep in mind, any mingling of money or assets does require you to potentially share them under common law. So even living together will be problematic.

I’m a lawyer just not a divorce attorney. I strongly advice you to buy one or two hours of a divorce attorney’s time to help guide you. May be the best $500-$700 you ever spent.

Having said that I am an attorney and I have had to deal with my own issues. The best thing for you to do is get a prenup that clearly states who gets what…you will get screwed on child support unless you share custody so you want to deal with that in the prenup also…if you can’t talk about hard issues regarding what happens if you break up …DO NOT GET MARRIED…if you can’t have hard conversations, then you guys are not marriage material

Don't get married period. You can try a pre nup but they are historically not air tight. If you do go this route get a good lawyer. Also don't move in together, common law marriage applies there.

DON'T DO PRE-NUPS, they are too easily broken. Some of the people who advise a trust here are saying to put the trust in someone else's name. Nope. Here's a reddit thread on trusts. In one of the comments underneath it, someone (I think a lawyer) says if a trust is irrevocable, then NOBODY owns it, so no reason to put it in someone else's name.

I will put my 0 experience ideas

1- prenup (offcourse thay thrown away but they sometimes have a value. And most importantly to see if she stepped back)

2- put your assets in your moma name and right in her will that you will inherit that money (it requires her to be married to your dad who's you're 100% he will give it back in divorce)

So you will want to create a trust along with an LLC, S-Corp (at some point if funds and time are right for it). The goal is to have all of your assets in these entities which can legally be done. You could also file for foreign LLC's and go for places like Wyoming, Nevada for extra privacy. This will cost more though (just depends if you have it like that or not).

Doing this deepens the rabbit hole for anything trying to come after your assets which will cost them money to try and find where at some point they'll give up unless they have funds like that.

If you ever marry, a prenup gives minimum amount of protection but you'll need to make sure the person cannot claim they were under duress. The problem you would then face is they may legally have access to your assets now once married; maybe stipulations in the prenup can prevent that?

You also want to be mindful of the common marriage law since its another way someone can go after your assets if they lived with you x amount of time. You're absolutely right, you want to have the minimum under your name while in other entities (I've been working on this for quiet some time), if done correctly you won't get knocked for child support so hard or when you go for modification it'll get lowered drastically.

A trust is definitely an option but I wouldn't have complete faith for a trust to hold up. If family court is anything like it is here in the US, then a trust can be subpoenaed for its standing and assets.

Some people will tell you a pre-nuptial agreement is a dead lock but that is a bunch of BS. Pre-nuptial agreements can be declared wholly invalid if A. It is too one-sided, B. Mentions anything about child custody or child support or C. The judge feels like being an ass and wants to throw it out regardless. Dr. Dre is a good example of this.

Ultimately, if you really want to protect your substantial assets, stay the hell away from compromising situations. Don't get married. Don't get any woman pregnant. Don't cohabitate.

And most of all, don't believe any of the bullshit. Women can put on a facade and spew dishonest diarrhea out of their faceholes for years until they get what they want and try to rip your asshole off in court. From what you are saying here, they are going to be flocking to you like a horde of mosquitoes....and they will say or do anything to get at what you have. Stay strong and protect yourself at all times brother.
