Hello, Men's Rights.

Let me preface this by saying we have a lot of differing opinions. I think sometimes you guys exaggerate things, and I'm sure you'd say the same things about me if you knew me personally.

However, recently, I joined a group on Facebook for victims of abuse. I had been in abusive relationships for 10+ years before meeting my amazing fiancé, and I still have trauma from the past, so I thought that might be a good place for support.

Boy was I wrong.

Every post, "I hate men", "all men are evil", "kill all men"

I thought, "ok, a few bad eggs, but maybe the rest of this group is sane"

I made the mistake of telling a funny story about my fiancé from when I was pregnant. He didn't quite understand what I was going through when I was pregnant, and I thought some of his misconceptions were kinda funny, probably like how he thinks my misconceptions about some of the things he's proficient in are funny.

NOPE, APPARENTLY NOT.

Apparently my fiancé is "nasty" and "abusive" and "stupid" because he didn't quite understand why I wasn't 100% at the beginning of my pregnancy. Did he hit me? Never. Did he call me names? Nope. Did he try to manipulate me or anything like that? Of course not. He's a good guy.

I was told every facet of pregnancy is common sense and he should just KNOW this stuff. That's funny, because I myself didn't even understand half of it until I went through it myself... yet somehow he should know just because?

I was told he's going to be a bad influence on my daughter, that he's problematic and treats me like shit. Because of this one story. And every time I jumped to his defense, I was told I was brainwashed from the abuse.

So, Men's Rights, I'm sorry. We may not always get along, but now that I see the kind of people you deal with, I understand why this movement was created. I'm sorry you have to deal with people like this. I honestly had a lot more to say on the subject but I'm honestly just so mad at how my fiancé was treated, behind his back, by people who have never even met him, that I'm at a loss for words.

All the best.

UPDATE: A quick update, I went back to the group and the head admin went through each comment and said how NOT OKAY it was that people were displaying blatant misandry and banned every single offender. I was actually really impressed by that, because it seemed like a group where that was tolerated based on the number of awful responses there were. There were no second chances, all hate was banned. If only that could happen in every group...
