Um, the people on this sub are (mostly) opposed to traditionalism, at least as far as men and expectations on them go. That's kinda why we're here.

Me personally? Every last one of us is a joint project between a man and a woman, and it makes sense we'd have some combination of masculine and feminine traits. Usually one side is stronger than the other, largely, but not extremely, and usually, that's the side matching the sex you were born as. Sometimes those things aren't the case.

It's foolish to base your sense of right and wrong only on societal expectations, but it's also foolish to ignore them completely; they didn't come from nowhere, after all, and expecting people to defy biology only in ways YOU want them to is pretty naive. Make your own search for truth, but don't ignore the stuff other people have learned along the way.

because this sub is not a curtailed echo chamber, like feminist/lefty subs where only one opinion is permitted.

Masculinity is not a piece of clothing, its not something you can "put on" and "take off" when you feel like it. If you are born male, its part of everything you feel think and do. But masculinity is not the stereotyped strawman caractiture you hear about in feminist media, the strong, silent, emotionally crippled, man-up, don't cry, wife bashing rapist. That masculinity is a feminist myth, a shallow hateful caractiture derived from the psychotic SCUM manifesto.

Masculinity infuses everything you are. Masculinity is as much nuturing, loving sensitive and expressive as it is strong, stoic and protecting. None of the characteristics you may describe as "more feminine" are actually more feminine than masculine. That's the feminist mythology, not the reality. Feminine and masculine are not binary, or even on the same scale. They are what they are, discrete and complementary.

Don't mix up masculinity with the rigid traditional gender roles that feminism is trying to brutally enforce on you. The two things are different.

Look at the great poets, musicians, artists, writers, lovers and warriors. They were all sensitive, expressive, they all followed their hearts and minds and led their destiny. You can be whoever and whatever you want and still be male.

I believe that half of the problem we have these days is from people claiming that there is some sort of formula or standard for being "male" or "female" and if you don't meet these standards then you don't belong.

I believe that there are a wide variety of men out there. I believe they are all men (even if they don't). They may not be typical but that doesn't matter. We all have our own strengths and characteristics. Don't fall victim to what "society says".

Variety is the spice of life.

That's challenging to answer because I don't believe r/MensRights represents any individual group. Rather, it's a discussion among men and women that opposed institutionalized and cultural gender prejudice.

I don't think that any of us can answer on behalf of everyone that participates in this sub.

However, I can say that many posts on this sub demonstrate a desire to reject traditional gender roles. Many in the group oppose the draft/male conscription because they believe it shouldn't be a man's duty to die for others. Many have highlighted the highly disproportionate number of men injured in the workplace that is largely caused by our society deferring dangerous tasks to men. Fathers' rights receive a lot of support here since nearly all of us reject the idea that women have a greater claim on parental responsibilities. There are numerous other examples.

But I don't think there will ever be universal agreement for every issue on this sub. For example, I personally identify as gay and practice a MGTOW lifestyle. For me, MGTOW means rejecting society's concept of masculinity and doing what I feel is best for me. My view of masculinity probably differs from other men on this sub, and that's fine! What's important is that agree that men should have equal rights.

I'm one of those. When I was single, dates would tell me that I was too thin and men are supposed to be strong and have muscular arms. That doesn't make me happy. Running makes me happy. The gym just makes me sad.

So I kept doing my own thing until I found a woman who didn't have a toxic definition of what "real men" should be.

Fuck no. We internalize that societal pressure. We need a good name for that problematic social pressure... a name that doesn't get converted to mean "men are toxic" instead a name that makes it clear that society is the problem (and not "other men"). I like the name "internalized misandry".

Absolutely yes, persuing "happiness" is a lost and meaningful life. I definitely support traditionalism (in the nuclear family) and emotional suppression such as stoicism. In general the sub is more against it, the majority of people disliking Andrew Tate but it has mixed views.

You ask what do I feel about this. Flat fact is, I don't. I don't care. You do you, I'll do me, Bob over there can do Bob. Your existence doesn't impact my life, and I there for don't care what you do. If you choose to force your way into my sphere of existence and make demands, that's a different story. In general though, you do as you like, and leave me alone. I suspect a large number of people view the world in a similar manner.

Absolutely not, be yourself. I don't mind men being feminine or not fitting traditionelle male models. Especially nowadays sticking to old rolemodels is unnecesarry, although i do personally like the gentleman aspect of them.
