There's two separate factors:

Women live longer and thus among the share of the population that is eligable to vote there are more women
Women take part in elections more consistently

Old people are more likely to vote and old women outnumber old men by a lot.

Also both parties ( especially the Democratic party) try to pander to women in different ways, while neither party really pushes anything pro men.

They're mostly old women, that may actually be in our favor for now.

Most politicians you'd be talking about are Republicans, which is fine with me, but many here seem on the other side of politics, quite a few don't seem to be moderate either.

I think most men care more about their jobs and rest, I for one am not exempt from work even during presidential elections.

I've never tried the mail in vote, not sure if my locality even offers it for local elections.

You can still email, mail, or call your politicians in the US, and they should hear your concerns at some point, that is basically all lobbying groups do if they don't have money.

As for Canada, they made their bed voting for Trudeauan politics.

I suppose, because from what I have seen, hardly any candidate offers much support for men, if at all.

Usually most candidates suck, towards both men and women, but they often suck less when it comes to women.

In short, in many cases, at least some women have something to gain from voting.

The thinking that voting is the way to change things doesn’t apply in Canada. We have multiple parties and a very broken ”First past the post” electoral system that often gives the “winning” party a disproportionate, undeserved representation in Parliament. Typically, 39 or 40% of the popular vote is enough to garner more than 50% of the seats in Parliament. Once they have captured half of the seats, the newly elected government can act with impunity, simply voting down the opposition. Add to this toxic mix a functionally useless, unelected Senate and you have a government that is little better than a third world dictatorship. We simply do not have representative governments in Canada.

The last time a Canadian government actually won more than 50% of the popular vote was 1984. In that election, the winning party captured 50.03% of the popular vote. That extra 0.03% was not enough to justify even one seat more than half but it actually translated into a win of 74.8% of the seats. To those that say that every vote counts, I say bullshit. Check how many millions of votes did NOT count in the last election. Subconsciously at least, many citizens have realized this and it explains the increasingly dismal voter turnout.

Though we have multiple parties, there are really only two in Canada that see power and they are in a constant battle of one upmanship to curry favor with the voters. They use election bribes, favoritism, and disinformation. They pit regions against regions, groups against groups. They spent lavishly on daycare, child benefits, family tax credits and benefits, etc. In recent elections, they have shoved so much money up the rectums of families (defined as people with children) that they are soon going to need to buy jackhammers to get any more up there

Our current PM (abbreviation for Prime Minister but I can think of another m-word that fits better) promised to fix all this in his first election bid by getting rid of “First Past the Post”. This was simply an election promise to get a few more votes and was not at all sincere as evidenced by the fact that he almost immediately reneged on the promise once elected. Recently, he has been gravitating toward a system that he says is one of the “proportional” voting systems – the one that modeling has shown will cause an even greater distortion in the result; results favoring his party, of course!

Some might think that the way out of this mess is to reduce the number of parties to two but that is neither realistic nor desirable. We already have a problem with the two main parties who endlessly trumpet worn out party ideology leading to an endless cycle of political trench warfare.

The solution is to implement a proportionate voting system. The idea was actually placed on the ballot in two of our provinces (which are as unrepresentative as the federal government). Both were turned down by the voters perhaps because the idea was presented to the electorate late in the election cycle, was very badly explained and, surprise, surprise, opposed by both major parties.

Admittedly, proportional voting systems are a bit harder to understand, at least the versions I have read about. The really sad thing is, that it doesn’t have to be complicated. There is an alternative, never mentioned, that would be effective, timely, and entail little additional cost.

Anyway, to the men in Canada. You can’t vote your way to equality until we have a representative election mechanism and more checks and balances than currently exist in our current system.

Personally, I can't be bothered to vote between two people who everyone knows are horrendous candidates as leaders. For some reason in the US we HAVE to have a party system where people pick their leader based on their favorite team like they're cheering for their favorite football team and not someone who can actually govern properly. Great that we have a ton of candidates in multiple parties, but it's a shame no one can be bothered to give a single care about anything other than republicans and democrats.

Women have incentives to vote as political parties tend to promise lot of welfare policies for women. Whereas, for men it's more about which party will be less damaging to men. Women also have more solidarity than men when it comes to voting a specific political party. Men are very divided and play as individuals.

Something I noticed recently, is the number of publications written by women that are essentially belittling, guilt-tripping, and shaming men into voting the way women want them to vote.

On the front page of politics, there's an entire thread right now dedicated to calling non-voting men unattractive cowards, and conservative leaning mean worthless unattractive cowardly scum.

I laugh, because it's cute to me. Coercive control doesn't work on seasoned veterans.

What I'm trying to say in response to OP with all that, is this: I don't think we're being held back, I think we're just not talking about it with women anymore. The tangential notes above are observations and commentary supporting why that is the case.

Both parties work in favor of women and work to keep common men down and on their knees. They do this through anti-male policies, laws and social conditioning. The male politicians want to remain wealthy and powerful, so rather than stand up for other men, they pander to women for their votes. Male politicians throw other men under the bus to keep women's favor. The male only draft, for instance, is gender based human sacrifice, but even today, it's still in effect.

Men can partially protect themselves by never giving women or their state violence proxy legal and financial power over their lives, either directly or indirectly, through anti-male, corrupt social institutions like marriage, through cohabitation or by becoming an unwitting baby daddy. Never do a threesome with women and their state pimp. You will lose every time.

The system works for the men at the top and wreaks havoc on the lives of most other men. A lot of men have already been successfully indoctrinated and conditioned to vote against their own best interests as well.

there is your answer

women like to rely on authority, they are practically married to government today

men like to be left alone, when men really want change, governments become obsolete
