I was on the internet the whole day today. Here's a list of all the times I saw International Men's Day getting mentioned without deliberately searching for it:

Just look at these comments. Some of them are quite literally "men are disposable".

Women's issues are important and have to be heard. But how come whenever anybody even mentions any issues related to men, there's immediately a wave of "but what about women"? It's so frustrating.

EDIT: Also the irony here that the posts are regarding double standards is pretty funny.

[–]GodBirb 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think it happens both ways man. It was international women’s day the other day, and there were loads of men using it as an excuse to talk about international men’s day’s lack of recognition (which is an issue fair enough), but it was absolutely brought up during the time of looking specifically at women’s issues.

I get your point, but as long as both sides get support in the end (unlike your post where the one for men was removed) I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Edit: also just pointing out that if you search on r/askreddit ‘a double standard’ you’ll see a load of posts doing exactly what you are against where men are posting the original (without knowing the original existed) as a refute to the one about women.

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I completely agree with you. Extremists are awful- for both sides. Unfortunately they're often the loudest. The outcry about International Men's Day not being properly recognized is just the loudest on Women's Day because you notice what kind of attention that day actually gets - which is good, don't get me wrong. It's absolutely an important day, and so is celebrating it. And I hope we can someday say the same thing about International Men's Day - together.

And for the AskReddit post. I browse that subreddit a lot, and I rarely ever see posts about mens issues. So I got quite happy when I finally saw one that actually gained some traction this morning. But then seeing it removed later in the day, and seeing a practically identical one, but this time about women, obviously not removed, made me.. frustrated, to say the least.

I will ALWAYS be an advocate for women's Rights, just as much as I'm for men's rights so I'm sorry if it came along as if I was frustrated that women's issues were brought up here.

Nah you’re good man. I’m pretty annoyed that the men’s one was taken down as well. As I said on another comment, I’m cool with having both myself (even if one is sort of a response to the original) as long as the original isn’t removed.

Do you maybe have a link to the removed post? I kinda wanted to see what it said ngl

Yep! https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/tc9xnq/what\_is\_a\_double\_standard\_that\_you\_have/?utm\_medium=android\_app&utm\_source=share

The irony 🤣

[–]manbro7 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If anyone talks about disadvantaged boys, it becomes about girls too and they feel the need to repeat "of course this doesn't change the horrors girls have to go through" despite them being advantaged. They'll begrudgingly spare 1 sentence for boys and make the rest about girls, and claim they were talking in favour of boys

[–]TheSpaceDuck 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Feminists: "Toxic masculinity is why men don't express their feelings?"

Feminists when men express their feelings: This crap.

[–]manbro7 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Toxic masculinity = Sexism to men

It's another bullshit feminist manipulation

It's also victim-blaming for the sexism you face. Imagine that. This is why people say feminism is cancer.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists when men express their feelings *that are about them and not women*: "Why aren't we talking about women's issues? They still exist."

[–]ScarAdvanced9562 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

the women of reddit one was also more recent and probably made as a response.

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, that was the reasoning of my post.. should've clarified

[–]Roary93 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because they know full well there'd be a never ending list of double standards, but gotta keep the narrative strong that only women face issues.

There's articles out the last couple of days saying women and girls have been the most disadvantaged by the war in Ukraine, ignoring the fact they've been allowed to flee whilst men and boys weren't allowed to and then forced to fight and die.

[–]Mother-Key582 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That really fucking disgusts me, seriously. I can’t understand that at all.

[–]NeoNotNeo 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reddit. Breaking men one post at a time.

[–]Royal_IDunno 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow what scumbags

[–]Final_Collection_515 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is why I ignore any woman’s issue project or announcement cause no one keeps the same energy for men

[–]neos7m 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I flagged the post that didn't get removed for breaking the rule about loaded questions. Apparently whether it's loaded or not depends on the order you state the genders in.

[–]GodBirb 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would’ve been fine if they did this both ways. It was interesting to read what the women had to say, and I think some people here would learn something by reading through as well, but there’s so reason to remove the one for men ffs 🤦‍♂️

[–]sypherue 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[Removed by Reddit]

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not when they are around, no.

[–]Emfuser 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The answer is very simple: it violates their narrative.

Anything that violates their narrative is perfectly acceptable to censor or attack.

[–]TitanicPat 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Trying to be the nicest people on the Internet, makes you the most exploitable.

And what do all the rules and terms of service and community guidelines shape you into being?

And to whom are these rules most stringently applied?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is why I like the 2nd amendment (If you know what i mean)

[+]MurkyAd53031 points 4 years ago [recovered] (11 children) | Copy Link

All it takes is one female mod, this is why you shouldn't put women in power.

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

You are the reason why Men's rights activists have such a bad name. You are just straight up misogynist, what you just said has absolutely nothing to with equality.

[–]MurkyAd5303 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You know this is extremely ironic considering that a mod literally removed your post, proving me right.

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No, what's actually ironic is the fact that you are arguing for men's rights in the wake of arguing against women's rights. That is nothing except of utter hypocrisy. Do you know why that post (which by the way was not mine) got removed? Because of the connection that people make between men's rights advocates and misogyny. And why does that connection exist? Correct, because of you. Because you want to act on your misogyny in the disguise of activism of men's rights. It accomplishes NOTHING except for further adding fuel to the fire of MRA = misogynist. You are the very reason why we aren't being taken seriously. So I honestly have no idea what you are even doing on this sub. Kindly, fuck off.

[+]TimeToLoseGains1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm not the guy you responded to, but why was your post about removed posts itself removed?

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I asked the mods but never got a response :)

[+]TimeToLoseGains1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

You don't think that's ironic?

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If you're referring to the fact that it got removed, I just perfectly explained it in my previous comment or did I not?

[+]TimeToLoseGains1 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You "explained" that you didn't know and tried to ask.

[–]SacredBigFish[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was talking about my longer comment before that, where I said that due to misogynistic"MRAs" men's rights have a bad name.. which got confirmed by me asking the mods for a reason as to why the post got removed and subsequently getting ignored..

[–]a-man-from-earth 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Keep your misogyny out of here.

[–]MurkyAd5303 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You do realize that literally as you said this, some mod removed this post.

Which proved my point.

[+]Acrobatic-Drawer-870 -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hm hard to really have an opinion on this. As potentially there were some dodgy comments.

Or maybe it is because the women one seemed to be talking about the workplace.

If its neither of those thing... then ye, that's bad and deffo a double standard

[–]Soda_BoBomb 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How does it being about the workplace somehow make it different? And "dodgy comments"? What do you mean?
