How the hell do they object to the word "Bolshevik" an insult when they literally have a hammer and sickle as their logo?

[–]Mitthrawnuruodo1337 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And "proletarian" in the name. And front, which just makes me think of Life of Brian. These people are... probably not very smart in a meaningful way. I'm guessing their the type of person who thinks "free thinking" refers to regurgitating countercultural ideas they were told about.

[–]Baalzabub 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good catch

[–]Stephen_Morgan 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They prefer wo-menshevik.

[–]Blutarg 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because they are stupid.

[–]MasterGoshinki 25 points26 points27 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Proletarian? Shit makes me sick! these children easily fall under the bourgeoisie and they think they are revolutionaries? Real revolutionaries fought and died for their beliefs fighting for what they believe in...for what they thought would be a better world...these kids don't know a single thing about what they claim to believe.

I have a confession though, I once believed in these false movements are less intellectual and more about perpetuating egos

[–]andejoh 25 points26 points27 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

OK, let's play devil's advocate. If the patriarchy is the reason there are no shelters for abused men and feminists fight the patriarchy, why haven't feminists advocated / lobbied / raised funds for / built shelters for abused men?

[–]tygertiger[S] 22 points23 points24 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You'd be better off asking that question to a brick wall than to the likes of these clowns in the video.

[–]TRPACC 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Their answer to that is that feminism is for women and men should do these things for themselves.

A better question is if patriarchy is the reason there are no shelters for men, is feminism patriarchal because feminism has been opposing the inclusion of men and hiding the statistics on female to male abuse since the 1970s.

[–]KamiNekoSama 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Their answer to that is that feminism is for women and men should do these things for themselves

But then when are we going to get around to doing things for women?

[–]Blutarg 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"men should do these things for themselves"

But eveey time men try to gather to talk about doing that, people like this disrupt the meeting.

[–]TRPACC 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes I know.

Thats why I was saying

A better question is if patriarchy is the reason there are no shelters for men, is feminism patriarchal because feminism has been opposing the inclusion of men and hiding the statistics on female to male abuse since the 1970s.

[–]spaceballs-1 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They lasted what again? 4 minutes? That's totally going to bring down the patriarchy.

Morons.

[–]tygertiger[S] 14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"The people united will never be defeated!"

Except when somebody tells them the cops are coming.

LOL

[–]KamiNekoSama 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I really wish they hadn't told them..... i would have liked to seen how the cops would have handled it.

[–]InBaggingArea 32 points33 points34 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

"At risk of our own safety".

[Dry laugh]

They're good, these Stalinist fucks.

[–]InWadeTooDeep 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Admittedly, that is a pretty effective piece of quality propaganda. 8/10

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Do you even know what stalinism is? I assume you do, so why do you use the word in this context?

Please use appropriate words, for example "censoring", or "suppressing free speech", or whatever. There's plenty of useful adjectives that fit this situation, "stalinist" is not one of them.

[–]InBaggingArea 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

"Stalinist" is le mot juste. Sorry about that. It just is. I know well what it means. Me and my mate are talking about it all the time, comrade General secretary.

I concede not all censors are, but these ones are. Bastards. I know people who "quite like stalin". I know what they are like.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Sorry but you are wrong man.

Stalinism is a historical term referring to "political, economic, and social principles and policies associated with Stalin" as well as his methods of controlling the people under his rule. And Even it it was just an analogy then I still am not seeing it considering feminists are not suppressing dissent through a secret police and political killings and life long sentences. At least as far as I can tell.

So you are either GROSSLY exaggerating, which I could understand as I often enjoy some internet hyperbole, or simply misusing the term. And you already insisted that it's the correct term, so it has to be the latter.

[–]InBaggingArea 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You don't have to have a state aparatus of control at your disposal to be a Stalinist.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure you do, because it means exactly that, methods employed by Stalin and his people to secure control over the Soviet Union and it's satellite states.

I will repeat, 'stalinist' is a historical term referring to a way a specific person ruled over a specific country. And I will repeat again, even if you want to use it as some kind of metaphor it still doesn't work. Feminists don't use stalinist techniques. They don't kill dissidents, they don't send them to work camps and so on.

You are being silly. Please do read up on stalinism: https://www.marxists.org/glossary/terms/s/t.htm

It's third one from the top.

[–]InBaggingArea -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Fuck off you ridiculous idiot. Of course you don't. You just have to believe in their methods. You don't know shit.

So feminists can't be Stalinists because they don't have a red army. Is that what you're telling me? Fuck off.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow, really mature there. REALLY mature.

But whatever man, you can continue on your merry way and keep misusing words and insult people who try to correct you.

[–]InBaggingArea -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh fuck off. You have no clue what Stalinism is.

[–]tygertiger[S] 31 points32 points33 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's embarrassing. They're a bunch of kids on mummy and daddy's dime at university pretending at being revolutionaries. The Junior Stalinist League by way of ramen noodles.

[–]Stephen_Morgan 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More like the Junior Anti-Sex League.

Ironic that they call themselves "Proletarian". As the old saying goes, there's nothing more bourgeois than complaining about the bourgeoisie.

[–]ctlawguy 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOLOLOLOL! I love people who think they are "revolutionaries". Stupid kids. Yeah, you're changing the world by blowing air horns. Losers.

[–]SirSkeptic 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They were expelled, right? They were breaking Canadian law as well as breaking university guideline. Surely they will be censured.

[–]tygertiger[S] 17 points18 points19 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you kidding? They probably earned themselves a scholarship from the women's studies department.

[–]germaneuser 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Their description of being harassed after leaving sounds like it straight-up came from /r/thathappened. All they needed was a slow clap, hugging, and a little girl in the back ground crying while saying, "THIS is why I need feminism! Smash the PATRIARCHY!"

[–]Mitthrawnuruodo1337 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

While the organizers kept up a "professional face" their true colors were shown as we left and were attacked with anti-Semetic slurs, homophobic slurs, and sexual harassment.

Statement should continue: "You know... in front of the cop, but not before he showed up... and we just forgot that might happen and didn't get a video of it. And assuming that isn't a lie furthermore who the hell do they think they are getting angry that we showed up explicitly to disrupt their private meeting and yelling slurs at them? Such patriarchy I can't even."

I think both parties' "true colors were shown," and I'm pretty comfortable associating with one group and not the other; can you guess which is which? It's kind of a pity Moss from the IT Crowd was the designated white knight of that first group. I liked him in that show.

[–]Elvick 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if it were true, that doesn't mean it was the ORGANIZERS who did it. Blaming the organizers for the guests' behavior is pretty fucking stupid, after all they were guests there too. Was it the organizers fault that feminists were being children too?

[–]SoWoWMate 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah here we go again, spoiled brats are seeing the "true face" behind statements. We all know that by mens rights we mean female oppression.

[–]Arby01 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How is the UOttawa student union still not being held responsible for supporting violence?

[–]TRPACC 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They are nothing if not predictable.

When are people going to take feminists to task for making the women's movement and false accusations synonymous?

[–]crazybmanp 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wait... calling someone you dislike a nazi is anti-semitic... is this true? I AM CONFUSE

[–]IcarusBurning 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those MRAs are regressive pretenders in our liberal society. Let's do the liberal and totally non-regressive thing and not allow people who disagree with us to have a voice

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haha this is great. It's all on video, none of that shit happened and the police were right there. What a bunch of lying little terrors they are.

[–]v573v 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

'Feminist conservation society' sounded too establishment for them?
