Earlier this week, I saw a male co-worker being falsely accused of sexually harassing a female co-worker. I stood up for him, and when questioned by the female co-worker, was told that I wasn't a 'real feminist'.
I think that feminism is about choice. Choosing, regardless of gender, to do what one wants with their life. If you want to go and work hard in your career, good for you! And if you want to stay home with your children and family, make your home a wonderful place, then good for you! I don't think feminism is necessarily about women being better than men---it's about choosing to be equals. And seeing my co-worker treat someone like that and say a man is inferior is wrong and deserved to be called out.

I've done research and checked out places like this on reddit, and have noticed an alarming pattern of toxic feminists who constantly put down men wanting equal rights and make it about themselves. I've never experienced much hate for being a woman, and I think it's unfair that men experience so much too---especially by people claiming to be feminists. Men are expected to bear lots of abuse, and generally are prejudiced against. But I never though feminism was about encouraging this.

As a feminist myself, I'm not sure what to think. Am I truly a feminist, or is feminism really just rooted in hate against men?
