I currently have a petition to call on congress and the senate to either abolish the selective service system or to expand it by requiring everyone to register for we can have equality in the law.The current selective service system is unconstitutional since it only applies to one gender which is a violation of the 14th amendment of the constitution and the equal protections clause.I would really appreciate if people in this comment section can look into and sign my petition to have equality in the law.

I understand the frustration, but it won't work. Feminism is about privilege, not equality. It's easy to say women should do it, but no man is gonna accept their female family members to go into war..

I disagree. We should either file a petition to stop drafting anyone or file a petition to draft every non-disabled person no matter the gender.

Yes it's unfair that men have a requirement that women to not. The requirement should be made equal. Ideally, there would be no draft, but women also being obligated would be equal.

Here's an alternative to explore: respect men for the unique role men have. Compensate men for the draft in some way. In the US, stop using the selective service as the thing that grants men citizenship, while women get it by default. Maybe that's a battle that can't be won until women are slaughtered in war along-side men. But personally, I'd rather fight this battle, than try to get my sister and nieces drafted into war.

Here's the thing. Do we really want women in the draft? For me, there's a primal thing that goes "Ugh no. Me man. Me strong. Protect little womenses." This echoes loudly in enough men's heads that this reason alone could explain the current situation with the draft. Honestly, that explains why there are as many imbalances in law that favor women as there are today in the US.

However, there are pragmatic reasons to suggest drafting women isn't exactly what we would want. Thanks to studies done by the US army, we are starting to learn a few things about including women in combat roles. Realistically, more studies, and larger scale studies need to be done, but here's what the US is seeing so far. Women tend to be more prone to injury and take longer to recover. Physically, they're just not as strong and cannot pick things up and put them down as well as their male counterparts; this means units with women move more slowly. The average combat effectiveness of men inside mixed units is lower than combat effectiveness of male only groups; this isn't referring to the units as a whole and does not imply that women's abilities drag the numbers down, this means each man individually is less capable in mixed units than their counterparts in male only units, the studies don't clearly outline why. There is the upside that women seem to suffer less from PTSD. That's for women who are driven enough to sign up for the army on their own.

It may be that we don't want to draft women into combat roles. So what about drafting women into non-combat roles? Well, here's the thing. There's only so much work that can be done at any given time, at a given place. If a not combat role is given to any person, that means that someone else cannot take it. So if one is given to a woman, for no reason other than because vagina, then that's a non-combat role that a man cannot have that they otherwise could have been drafted into doing. As the combat roles see use, their numbers dwindle and need replacement, and we end up with a largely lopsided draft where men are pulled into service by far greater numbers.

So ngl, if im drafted im not doing it. Already been shot in the head once, not willing to put myself in a position for it to be more likely to happen. But before that happened i still wouldn't have been willing to go purely because they don't draft women too. Why should I have to go risk my life when they get to just stay back and stay safe? No, screw that. If they want freedom and their rights and everything then they need to fight for that too. Put their lives on the line for that too.

As I do believe in equality and don't think that men have some magic value over women in combat, I would fight for equal opportunity for women in the military, as we have now, and equality in the draft. I'm an MRA who see's the value of joining forces with women's groups who also support draft equality.

Officer groups wrote an amicus brief supporting a draft for all so the idea that women makes bad soldiers seems unlikely as 16% of the US is now female and no ones complaining.

It sucks, but a draft is necessary for a country to remain strong.

Also, please don't send women, they are terrible on deployments.
