You were a perfectly healthy child and had healthy functional and highly sensitive erogenous tissue removed from you for absolutely no immediate medical necessity. This took away a great deal of pleasure, violated your human rights and your bodily autonomy.

I'm a man who would be ignored by society in favor of you who state they are fine. I suffer physical pain and damage often still today because of this surgery I never needed and currently no surgery can fix it.

Here's an experiment you can conduct right now to understand for yourself:Take one of your hands, it doesn't matter which one, and hold it out in front of yourself, palm down. Then take your other hand and run the tips of your fingernails across the back of the hand you're holding out. Pay attention to how that feels. Give it a score from 1-5 on how intense it is. Now, flip the hand you're holding out to be palm side up, and run your fingernails over your palm. Give that a score. Does paying attention to the difference reframe how you feel about the intensity of the back of your hand? Assuming you're not a blue collar worker with intensely calloused hands, you will notice a dramatic difference in the intensity and fidelity of the sensation. That difference in touch-detection is caused by a special nerve ending called a Meissner's Corpuscle. They're on your palms so that you have another way of gathering information about what you're manipulating. They're also in a man's penis, to allow him to better feel sex. Most of them are in the foreskin, which is obviously removed during circumcision. The next highest concentration of them are in the frenulum, that little bridge of skin that connects the underside of the head to the shaft, and that's destroyed during circumcision. Finally, they are found in the glans, or head of the penis, but far fewer than the foreskin or frenulum; and without the protection of the foreskin the glans becomes calloused and dry, largely decreasing the sensory capabilities of the remaining nerves. That's why circumcision is bad. Because the difference in sensation is comparable to the difference you just felt in the experiment, and the decision to forever remove that capability is made for a literal infant who cannot even conceive of what's happening to him, let alone consent to it. And that's the point of the operation. Circumcision was literally designed as a punishment to make men enjoy sex less.

Further, there is some evidence to suggest that the procedure being performed on an infant permanently alters their neurochemistry, making it difficult for them to trust later in life. The research that showed this was, however, immediately shut down for political reasons, so take that information with a grain of salt.

But even if circumcision had no mechanical, neurological, or sensory drawbacks, it's still completely messed up to perform surgery on a newborn for cosmetic reasons.

the "benifits" are insignificant. You wouldn't cut off a finger to prevent it from breaking. It reduces senitvity over time and it just takes all potential bodily autonomy awaay from the baby, puts the baby at risk when it's not needed. And especially in america, it's mostly done for eitehr regilious purpouses or it's cosmetic.

What makes cutting off a baby's earlobes bad? They are pretty much fine without them, even though they may, arguably, be slightly impaired, and if it becomes standard practice, it may even make them more attractive to partners. So why shouldn't it be fine to cut off your child's earlobes without their consent?

I am cut too. I occasionally rub on the inside of my fly or something and it is really uncomfortable and I wonder if I wouldn't have to deal with that if i had skin to protect myself.

bodily autonomy. false information, unnecessary, my body my choice, no anaesthia in many cases, laziness (srsly, wtf, people would rather attack themselves with a knife instead of spending one minute extra to clean?), performed routinely on infants, doctors often pressure new parents into performing it because its 'normal', performed for religious purposes despite the fact FGM was for religion but is outlawed.

as you mentioned, infants fucking die. that should be reason alone enough to entirely outlaw the procedure. i could go on and on, but TBH, there's so much at the sub i linked, backed up with research and studies too. r/Intactivism is really all you need.

and on top of all that, if you want to traumatise yourself, go ahead and find a video of an infant crying during MGM. when you hear that, you know it's not normal, and he is in immense pain. if you can, even find a video comparing it to other types of crying like hungry.

I'm circumcised and never saw a problem with it and therefore was always pro circumcision.

I got into a discussion about it recently and was pointed at a ton of research and articles that easily prove it's wrong, purely from a medical perspective.

I didn't keep any of it but it's easily found with google.

You'll hear a lot of, don't because "human rights and body autonomy"... I disregard those entirely because if adults are 'responsible' for children how can children possibly have all the 'rights' that an adult has? Children also can't even comprehend what 'bodily autonomy' means.

These are the same "human rights and bodily autonomy" bullshit arguments that allow fuckin animals to give children double mastectomies, penectomies and hormone blockers.

Based on everything thing I've read I no longer believe circumcision should be carried out unless absolutely medically needed, no other exceptions.

The idea is mostly due to consent.

Back in olden days, like when Abraham was alive, or even in the 1500s, circumcision made sense as it was healthier and disease was harder to treat.

Nowadays with higher living standards on average, people mainly ho against it due to the baby not consenting.
