Nah, Fuck any religion that thinks any form of genital mutilation is okay. There's no justifying it. You don't mutilate anyone's body for any reason. The person who you doing it to has the right to not have their body fucked up. If someone wants to get circumcised, then great, they can do so on their own accord later on in life, but that's a decision they, and only they get to make.

One person's religious rights end at another person's body. If someone grows up and wants to circumcise themself for their own chosen religion, they are absolutely free to do so. So I see no infringement on someone's religious rights.

Same thing for culture. People are absolutely free to choose their cultural values and practice that on themself.

To override someone else's rights takes a very strong argument. In the case of a medical procedure it's medical necessity.

And as for your claim that it does no harm, the foreskin is the most sensitive part of the penis. (Full study.)

The vast majority of American parents who choose routine infant circumcision are Christian or secular, so they aren't motivated by religion, but by ignorance and peer pressure. It wasn't even part of Christianity when Kellogg popularized it, just one of many methods he tried to prevent masturbation. I'm sure some of that vast majority would change their minds if they knew all the facts, and it would make a difference to them and their children. Even if it was 9/10 like you say, are the other 1/10 not worth saving?

It's about the human right to bodily autonomy and about consent.

There's nothing wrong with circumcision if you make an informed decision and have it done to yourself. Just don't do it to little kids, who cannot give informed consent.

Outside of religious reasons. It's purely a cosmetic procedure. If boys grow up and want it done, it should be entirely their decision. However that choice is taken from them at the moment at their birth.

You do not have the right to cut off another person's body party in a civilised society so why make exceptions for religion? Otherwise all kinds of weird cultist groups and witch doctors etc. would be given free reign to just lob bits off people.

People only think Circumcision is ok because they compare first world circumcision with third world FGM.

In the first world, MGM is done in a hospital with few fatalities. (legal)

In the first world, FGM is a nick on the clitoris that draws a single drop of blood (illegal).

In the third world, FGM is horrific, but almost no fatalities. (the first world is pushing for this to be illegal).

In the third world, MGM regularly results in men bleeding to death in the streets. (the first world is pushing for this to be legal).

Everywhere FGM happens, MGM also happens, and it is always worse.

English is not my native language, so please be patient. I'll try to explain:

It's not only physically a very painful experience (in most circumcision sessions, no pain killers are used at all), it's breaking the infant on a very deep emotional level (That's the main reason for doing it). The infant basically learns he is not protected and cared for anymore by his parents, he is given away and left on his own – given to someone who merciless inflicts pain and even enjoys doing it.

From a psychological point of view, it's sexual child abuse. And that typically causes heavy mental health issues like personality disorders.
