Given how often feminists like to use charges of misogyny to shield the ideology from criticism, it might as well be a blasphemy law.

I sincerely hope the law narrowly defines misogyny to prevent abuse. I'd not put money on it, but one has to hope.

Don't bet on it. When the Law Commission was "reviewing" the situation and asking for "consultations", they had a number of questions on their website, one of which was:

Do you think that gender/sex should be a hate crime?

For females and males
For females only

So no option for men only!

Okay okay misogyny is bad, I don't think anyone here disagree, but how exactly will "Misogyny" be defined? Will criticism of feminism be counted as criticism of women or even worse, misogyny? Will enforcement of this law be fair is my biggest concern I guess.

If this happens it will be hunting season against men in the U.K. every day until the end of existence. We are already going to have a show trial against someone for making a tweet on Twitter. At worst it was ignorant, but definitely not inciting harm or threatening.

I’ve included it here so you can see that we don’t have free speech in the U.K. and they are going to make an example of this man. On top of that, they delayed the trial to add to his stress.

You might not think it’s related, but they are going to show us what they can do to this guy and then turn around and say that if you offend women online the same will happen to you.

This isn't the US so I don't really give a shit, but..

Labour MSP Johann Lamont tabled an amendment that would have included women as a protected group, giving the courts enhanced sentencing powers.

The amendment was defeated, however, with the government instead setting up a working group led by Baroness Kennedy to look at whether misogynistic abuse should be a separate crime

Fuck every single person who worked on that amendment. They are basically saying that if your not in the majority, then a crime is less impact full to you. Its like making harsher sentences for being racist against a black person and not having those harsher sentences for racism against a white person.

But thats europe so they don't have any rights or anything so I could care less.
