I've had only a handful of relationships in life, but many of them were very long term relationships.

I'm curious from guys who have had many relationships - is it "normal" to have to go through many women to find one who treats you well and with respect? Or, are good women common but there are other issues like general incompatibility, or wanderlust or whatever that caused you to move on?

For me, I look at marriage statistics and notice that the majority do not end well. Divorce is common, and even where divorce doesn't happen, there is often cheating, abusive, sticking it out for the kids, etc.

Obviously our own character/attractiveness will factor into the quality of our relationships, but I do think that the quality of the female dating pool matters. It's hard to assess that pool without loads of quantitative experience.

It feels like maybe a solution is to just accept that the majority of relationships are going to have a built in expiration date despite your best efforts to try and keep the spark alive. But it could be my skewed perspective speaking.
