If we look back in history and even now traditional countries where arranged marriages are a thing are still heavily controller by parents. It is where these "traditional" women are that men say the West have lost and to enjoy the decline.

But, in terms of hypergamy from that last thread; men are stating that women want what is BETTER than them and won't want to deal with men who are beneath her and rarely on her same level. He needs to be better and be able to provide. A man loses his job and can no longer support - means women, by "nature" will start to look down on him and leave for someone better. While men on the otherhand marry women all across the board. Her resources doesn't mean as much.

Ok. So if we look back into the family decision of marriage and traditional aspect of doing so - who exactly was in charge in allowing their daughter to be married? Who picked the men? Who ensured security for their daughters lives? The head of the household. The father.

I am not sure if any of you have traditional families were you actually see this, but who is the MOST judgemental of the man, the daughter brings home?

In my culture, if marriage is on the table, he has to meet my father and my father will ask him questions "what do you do for work, what is your plan, can you take care of my daughter" along with his family gifting gifts to my family as offerings for me and a bunch of other traditional customs.

Men have to also win the father which means answering what he does for a living, how he will take care of her and the family they create, etc. I highly doubt a father would be ok with their daughters struggling.

Would you not then say that "hypergamous" behaviour started from men, ensuring the best for their daughters and their lives? But it has become so engrained that it has just continued and woman now do the vetting for themselves first?
