There seems to be a misconception that in order for two things to be equal they must be exact carbon-copies of one another.

I believe men and women are equal. In terms of how they should be treated under the law.

But I do believe they are different biologically. And psychologically. To a broad extent.

These aren't incompatible beliefs.

Equality is the most important thing if we want to get anywhere. We can't limit people in the world or in our minds if we want everyone to live up to their potential. Sure average men are physically larger and can lift heavier things than average women. So what? I believe the mind is the most important asset in a person and a person's mind isn't limited by their sex. Men and women can be emotional and rational, strong and sensitive, confident and supportive. There are no winners so I don't know why people keep debating what certain genitalia makes someone life's loser

The point should be ALL people are deserving of equal rights under the law. No group of humans are alike, simply belonging to a group does not entitle you to subjugate another human.

I understand the concept just fine, the only problem is that usually when someone expresses the sentiment, they have conspicuously stacked the "male" side of the equation with most of the positives and the "female" side with most of the negatives in their estimation, so it ends up being just schmaltzy lip service .

It's usually along the lines of... Oh, of course men and women are equal, just different! ...Men are honorable, strong, rational, decisive, and women are capricious, weak, illogical and blah blah blah.

Now, you haven't done this here, to the extent that you haven't elaborated at all, but in my experience, the vast majority of people online and IRL who attempt the "different but equal" are doing it to handwave what is in reality an opinion that holds that men and women are different and most definitely not equal.

Which is why though I agree with the as-stated opinion, I do not use that phrasing myself.

Women are nature's safe bet, men are nature's risky bet. The reason is obvious, many women and few men could have many children, many men and few women could only have few children. This is why the best and the worse of society are men.

If we consider humanity by gender on a normal distribution, there's going to be more variance in men than women. The median will be higher in women while the tails will be longer in men.
