It seems to me to be just another way of saying violence against women. Which I know to a lot of people is fine but to me looks really stupid. Its to the point where 1 woman can die and we have protests for weeks. Yet 50 guys die and no one bats an eye.

I always hear the justification that sure men are more likely to be victims of violence than women but women are more likely to be targeted because they're women. This makes no sense to me because what does that even mean? Do you have a study asking criminals their motivations for attacking women? If so I haven't seen it. Take domestic violence for example if a man hits a woman its gender-based violence. If a woman hits a man it's just regular violence. "bUt BuT bUt pOWeR iMbaLAnces" I can hear you say. That has nothing to do with the gender of the victim and is often implated as a cause of violence when it really played no part in actually causing the violence, at best its context. So, for example, a relationship where one of the spouses is an alcoholic. Instead of looking at the effect of alcohol suddenly gender is the primary reason why domestic violence occurred.

Moreover, no one ever limits only to domestic violence. Let's say you agreed that just anytime a victim of abuse it's gendered violence. But people use the term to describe literally any crime commented against a woman. I really would have less of a problem with this if we used this type of logic for any other form of crime ever. Like the overwhelming majority of men are victims of murder. This by definition would make it a gendered crime. However, because the victims arent women it doesn't really count. This is my real problem men make up the vast majority of victims of crime and yet receive a fraction of the attention because a women's life its literally valued more than mine. For me, this isn't men having a few problems this is a human rights issue.
