if you agree that the only thing stopping men from becoming rapists is women catering to them (in whatever amount women currently cater to men) and the government (barely) criminalizing rape, then you would think that rape is pretty common and that most men are not "good men" since a change in circumstances would turn them into rapists.

Climate change does not just affect poor countries, it will hit the west as well.

If the gulf stream breaks down then most of europe becomes a waste land as nothing of substance will grow, this then leads to wars (wars that powerful western countries will throw everything at to gain the land needed to grow stuff.

I see you still don't understand what is being talked about.

We are talking about a time when law and order are either under threat or gone completely, I think you can agree there is some fucked up people in this world who even with law enforcement still do these things, now imaging what would happen with no law, now think about how isolating men would effect that scenario, men who don't care might not join in (some would) but they certainly won't help. Society is strongest when we are working together so having as many people partnered up as possible helps build better societies as they have investment in them.

As for the government removing rights it will be to force women to choose men or suffer from inability to survive (like the old days) women might scream and shout about it but will fall in line as the instinct to survive is very powerful.

I would much prefer we didn't have to go down this line.

Sorry this happened to you, but what made you not want to report him?

1) i wanted to go home and cry after being raped, vs figuring out where the police station is and the fear of being interrogated by a male cop about what just happened, and then going somewhere to get my vag scraped for most likely no result as it would just be he said, she said unless he was dumb enough to confess.

2)if you don't report right away, its pretty much pointless and i dont think most people are in a right state of mind right after something traumatic happens to them.

3) he explicitly raped me, it was a very cut and dry situation in which i had literally JUST told him i would not have sex with him. But idk, did he deserve the legal consequences of this? did i want to blow my life up and possibly turn it into a media circus? i want him to stop raping. idk that reporting him would accomplish this. i think probably some kind of consequence exists that would accomplish this but its not our criminal justice system.

4) i was afraid he would harass me if i reported him. its hard to explain to men but a man being angry at you is very scary and i am on the side of the spectrum that is most unnerved by it. I didn't want to live in fear that he would call me or show up at my house/work and scream at me (or worse). if he's immoral enough to rape, what else is he immoral enough to do?

5) i still haven't told my parents or family i have been raped. if i reported it, its out of control whether they find out. if you got raped, would you be okay with that info just being out there? keep in mind some of your family members might be "women can't rape men" types (or in my case, "you asked for it" types).

Men and women have both been used (in different ways) society needed men's labour to build but he needed a reason to put the effort in so they design a system that gets enough men invested by helping him find a mate. Even in modern times we can see what it does to men when they can't find someone, this is why I said there are sacrifices to be made to live in a society and women's is to be realistic about your options (still free to choose).

They're not being asked to suffer in silence, finding a partner that is good for life long commitment isn't hard unless you make it hard by putting these requirements in place.

i think you would really have to show that marriage vs singlehood is healthy for individual men and women

obviously this is true when it is a good, healthy marriage, but i think that is a minority of marriages. i was raised (religiously) to think marriage and kids are the biggest accomplishment anyone could achieve in life. I wanted to get married for as long as i could remember growing up. but when i looked around, i could never find marriages i would want to be a part of. I noticed from a very young age (elementary school) that i would not be happy as a woman in any of the relationships i saw around me. it wasn't until college that i saw a few aspirational marriages (between my professors). it was nothing i read or saw online (anti-marriage stuff is really only been popping up in the last few years when i have already been 35+), it was my own experiences seeing couples that slowly convinced me i did not want that life.

i want to be free to be my gentle, sensitive self and read books and write poetry and men do not like this!!!! the ones that don't think i am too sensitive have lots of women after them since they are rare. even the ugliest guy i have met through literary circles (women posted his online dating profile online to make fun of him bc he is weird looking, which is very, very evil) married a women from this social circle, and they look happy when i see them.

something i read a few years ago that stuck w me was this male therapist who said "women deserve to live lives free from male harassment". it blew my mind. never before in my entire life had i thought i could maybe have a life where i wasn't catering to men and saving the things i love most in life for my limited private time because it is unrealistic to expect a man to share them with me. men think my interests are a drag and make fun of them. they disturb my peace (by being loud, aggressive, crude) and its fine that we are socialized to be so different, but we aren't compatible! i choose myself over living w a man. i would rather have the life i want than ???? whatever the benefit of partnering w a man is besides some people's belief that its good for society. i'm super happy i eventually decided not to have kids for a similar reason. i sleep like a baby at night knowing i did not bring more people into this world.

I agree wholeheartedly that's a massive red flag, which I ignored in my last ex bf cause he seemed nice otherwise, and i chalked it up to him probably being autistic and not understanding my pov, big surprise he raped me. I didn't go to the police I didn't think they'd believe me(crazy woman) over him(veteran war hero) , but I posted in the local awdtsg group to warn the other women in town.

I have reported two rapists previously, but those were especially heinous crimes because I was a child. What I learned from that is that there's never just one victim and women who've been victimized bear a responsibility to try protect other women from these predators however possible. It's a heavy burden to bear too, because nobody ever even wants to admit what happened to themselves, much less the public where men like the ones on this sub will victim blame and accuse you of lying then ask for the details so they can jerk off to it.

‘ppreciate the response. def aware of the overprotective girl-dad trope and i agree this happened, but i’m also thinking about the history of disbelieving women and victim blaming them as lying sluts (the psychology of which is fascinating to me, i think a lot of those dads/men find it too painful to consider she’s being truthful and that they couldn’t protect her; easier to think she was regretfully promiscuous) especially when in most cases the accused is a close family member or friend themself. the rate of marital rape comes to mind too

and this is all setting aside the fact that most assaults historically and today still don’t get reported to anyone but one or two close confidants, lots of ppl (god, especially male victims) know/fear their assault can’t be proven or know/fear it’ll do more harm than good to their already traumatized life. would be down to hear your thoughts on all that also man i love this sub i just discovered it and these are the kinds of convos/vibes i’ve been craving my whole debate brained life lol
