I think your definition of hypergamy is that people change partners. Which is true for both genders. The RP definition is women prefer men that are of higher status (and about 4 years older).

The important conclusions of female hypergamy is:

If you want to partner up with a women, the best way is to be valued in the social circle she cares about. Imagine if she could tell all her friends that she slept with you and she would be congratulated. Guess what? You are getting laid tonight. Pre-selection game uses this tenancy, by being chosen by other women in her circle, she will be more likely to choose you.
Be careful if you notice your status slipping or her status rising. Obviously if you are a horrible person you can specifically hold her back. This is an easy accusation made against RP types. One possible aim of relationships is to support each other to the top. Make sure it is not one way towards her, as these types of relationships tend to not last (while the other way is more stable).
The rising economical and educational of women is ~~going to make~~ is currently making many women lonely and unhappy. This doesn't affect me because I am financially secure and educated, the only difference for me is that whoever I partner up with will probably be educated and richer. Right now, women, especially college educated women, are have extra trouble finding partners that are their educational equivalent. This is going to get much worse in the future because right now there is a backlog of older male graduates to marry. In a decade, there is going to be a class of women that won't have 'higher or equal status' partners. I expect both the divorce rate to rise and the marriage rate to fall.

Of course, men wouldn't mind their partner to be superior in certain aspects too, that's just natural. But men are way more realistic and are much, much less likely to have these hard demands women always seem to have. Men have a much easier time ignoring glaring flaws and sometimes even idolize them (obesity for instance).,

Kind of, but not really.

They key difference between female hypergamy, and male hypogamy, is desperation, and the time frames associated with that. Men want sex, pretty much all the time where it wouldn't otherwise be intrusive. We also find 95% of healthy weight, breeding age women attractive. Because of that convenience and certainty tends to take precedence over attractiveness. If a 9 is definitely DTF, then we'll ignore the equally DTF 6. This is where the "kind of hypergamous" starts and ends. But, if the 9 is not really into us, and the 6 totally is, we're going for the sure thing.

Women, on the other hand, are not desperate. They still want sex, but they're willing to wait for it. If she was getting hit on by a 9 last week at the club, that becomes her bar for attractiveness. For the time being, she will not be attracted to 8s or lower, because she knows she can do better. If she's particularly horny, and there are no 9s to be seen, she'll settle for the 8, for now. But, the second the 9 becomes an option again, she loses almost all attraction for the 8.

Men and women are different with respect to long term dating, relationships and marriages. Guys want satisfaction while women want to be entertained.

If the guy feels "satisfied" he will work his 50 hours a week, hand over his paycheque, and each night kick his feet up and have a beer while watching the news or a game.

Women want constant engagement or at least signals of affection and romance and various gestures to keep them interested. Guys will do this for about 2 years and then they slack off. The woman will go on for about two years without it, then nag his ass for another 2 years or so, and then divorce his ass. Plus or minus which accounts for the median of about 7 years.
