In recent memory, we had several threads:

Women focus on careers because a career is a good investment, a man generally isn't

If you don’t want women to have careers/work, what do you expect them to do to obtain money, resources, and meet their needs?

It’s unwise for women to invest in romantic relationships with men if they aren’t valuable to men past age 30.

All of those threads either stated or implied women's "financial independence" from men and viable "career path" for women as an established fact.

Even the very surface Googling gives me something completely opposite.

USA: despite women outperforming men in higher education for decades, CHILDLESS single women are still three times more likely to be in poverty than married mothers (figure 3; 2019 data).

USA SSA (2014): elderly women are more likely to be poor if never married than if divorced, widowed, or married; "married" is the only category that gave men higher risk of being in poverty over the age of 65 than it gave to women.

What am I missing? Where is this glorious "career" that single women are "focusing on"? Or do you simply mean "a job"?
