MGTOW is supposed to be about men who have gone their own way. It's supposed to be a movement about men who have decided to quit expending time and money and energy on women and have instead decided to focus on their own pursuits.

So you'd expect MGTOW to be a men's movement full of manly male stuff, right?

Nope!

It's a movement about women. The DEFINING CHARACTERISTIC OF BEING MGTOW ISN'T ABOUT BEING A MAN - IT'S ABOUT YOUR POSITION ON WOMEN.

If you navigate over to the MGTOW forums, men aren't trading male business advice, discussing male hobbies, and sharing accomplishments and stories about being men. All they do is discuss women.

By "going their own way", away from women, they've decided to make their entire identity about women and their position on women.

Generally TRP is fine with MGTOW.

However there is a perception that the bulk of recent MGTOW are nothing more than hapless supremely entitled lazybones hiding behind the label who have never been successful with women and are latching on to an excuse to avoid addressing the elephant in the room.

I read a lot of Red Pill and subscribe to most of it. But I wouldn't say I'm completely totally Red Pill.

My criticisms of MGTOW are that a lot of them aren't honest about why they're MGTOW.

A growing number of men are MGTOW because they can't get laid. They can't secure a woman. Or they can get women, but the women they can get are unattractive and undesirable and thus not worth the effort. That's why they're MGTOW. Not because they don't want to deal with women or don't want women in their lives. Women don't want to deal with them and don't want them in their lives. They didn't make the decision. Women made the decision for them.

Or, they just gave up.

That's why I'm critical of (a lot of) MGTOW. They're not honest about why they're MGTOW. But I can't expect MGTOWs in that boat to fess up and say "I'm Going My Own Way because I tried and failed to get a woman, or I don't want the undesirable women I can get, and I don't want to try anymore. I'm giving up."

MGTOW men are mostly complete losers who are taking their rejection from the dating marketplace and convincing themselves its their choice. Spend some time on MGTOW forums and you’ll see this is a complete lie. A good portion are bitter and incel-type trash. If you were a true MGTOW you wouldn’t be bitter at all, in fact you wouldn’t even spend a second on a MGTOW forum because you’d be pursuing your mission, hobby, self, whatever.

MGTOW men are the classic “you can’t fire me, I quit!” Type. They say they’ve left the dating game when in fact the dating game left them.

I also consider MRA people to be low tier losers as well

You can still enjoy the company of women without having to commit. And if you are one of those guys that is feeling vindictive about women, it's better to do exactly that: become attractive and desirable, enjoy them, but never settle.

In my opinion you can be both. MGTOW to me means not being bound by a traditional male gender role, societal expectations and not doing things to serve women/female imperative. Its about freedom. "My own way" includes having sex. I realise you have to make some compromises if you want to still have sex with women, but you have to make compromises in other places too. Most people dont like the job they work at, and if they were truly free they wouldnt work there, but its a necessary compromise in order to get what you want. Same with women, you might have to do some things you dont want to get what you want in the end. Just do as much as you can to have things on your terms.

I see MGTOW as a journey, a "true" MGTOW to me would be basically a buddhist monk. That is the state of nirvana, you may not be ever able to reach that, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt try to get as far as youre willing/able to.

I got nothing against MGTOW, even the guys who choose to live hermit lives. If sex didnt exist I would choose that route as well.

Both manosphere groups have opposite strategies but similar assumptions.

Both more or less understand the market and the system,

While one try to fight it and obtain happiness regardless of what society says, the other just leaves the system, avoiding the worst part of it (women) the best they can.

It is like marxism and communes/equivalents. They are at odds. One thinks that the other are pussies, the other thinks that the one is too idealist.

TRP and MGTOW are going to agree on many, many of their premises. They know what women do and don't bring to the table.

TRP'ers might not be aware of the full legal quagmire, but many are.

The real difference is how much they value the things women do offer. And what they are willing to give up for it.

Value is always subjective.
