Your premise is wildly flawed to because in no way has actual sexual activity been necessary in order to be slut shamed, "mid girls" are not getting Henry Cavill trust fund boys or sleeping with hundreds of hot, rich men. Someone fed you a fantasy and you're letting the confirmation bias warp your sense of reality.

“Slut shaming” has always been about men’s insecurity.

Men who are angry that women refuse their advances. Men who are angry that they aren’t special and chosen above all other men.

Men who believe that women deserve to be punished for either having sex with men they desire or not having sex with men they don’t desire or both.

Women who participate have always been women who are hurt that men choose other women.

It morphed into a catch-all insult, largely separate from any semantic meaning that is liberally applied to any woman or girl who refuses to bend to a man’s sexual will.

Virgins are slut shamed, women and girls are routinely slutshamed for not being sexually available to the men and boys who want them.

It doesn’t mean anything other than as an expression of male frustration that women have the right to choose.

You gotta remember humans are just apes. No matter how much we try to delude ourselves we are instinctual creatures. Especially when it comes to social interactions and sexuality.

Promiscuous woman = disgusting

But why? Well consider what 99.99% of our history looks like. Say you are a man who wants to find a woman to pair bond with. To have children with. What's going to happen if you pair bond with the whore of the tribe? You're likely going to be raising someone else's kids. If you don't have the eek instinct towards women like that. You slowly get weeded out of the gene pool. Because you're very often wasting your precious time and resources on the genetic seed of another man.

This is how instincts evolve in societal creatures. Beneficial behavior gets rewarded and reinforced.

A man who will gladly pair bond with a dirty slut. Will be less likely to pass on his seed.

It's really pretty simple when you consider that humans are simple creatures. We're capable of building very complex models. But our instincts are still as simple as some fucking chimpanzee.

I think you’re pointing at a few wrong things.

Women who are “birds” aren’t slut shamed they’re just air headed loud mouthed women other women don’t respect and poison the dating pool they’re in.

“Pick me” is just a word women use for other women who aren’t as traumatically misandrist like them.

I wouldn’t say those two are forms of slut shaming because it’s not directly related to sexual access.

I think easy access to porn and idealized beauty killed a lot of the power of slut shaming in conjunction with OLD, but for a different reason than you’re describing.

For a pretty wide spectrum of men, casual sex with women they find highly attractive still has a very high barrier to entry. OLD gives women enormous amounts of inbound sexual attention, escorts are too expensive or undesirable as a regular substitute for most men, and conventional dating can require a lot of time, effort and repeated rejection.
Meanwhile porn and social media have exposed men constantly to women who are far more attractive than the women they can reliably attract in real life.
That creates a weird incentive: the hotter and more sexually available a promiscuous woman is, the more expensive she is for a man to replace. A guy may disapprove of her history in the abstract, but if rejecting her means going back to months of apps, dates, rejection and searching before he finds another woman he’s equally attracted to who actually wants him, a lot of men will simply keep her.
So I don’t think promiscuity necessarily became prestigious because women can now exclusively sleep with high-status men. I think attractiveness and scarcity increasingly overpower the stigma. The man isn’t thinking, “Her body count is admirable.” He’s thinking, “I’m not voluntarily giving up access to the hottest woman I’ve been able to get just so I can start this miserable process over again.”
That’s especially true for conventionally attractive promiscuous women. In that sense, they benefit enormously from the modern dating market.
