Because I care about morals, and getting a girlfriend is a terrible motive for becoming religious. I'd either have to live a lie for the rest of my life, or if I actually managed to convince myself, I'd have to deal with the guilt of using God for my own selfish ends.

The only way I could show my face in church with an intact conscience is if I authentically believed, which would require being earnestly convinced through rational arguments that are unrelated to women.

I invite anyone to try. I desperately want to be convinced because I know I'll be happier, but unfortunately I don't think it's likely.

Some probably are. Me personally, well I have hard time swallowing any creationist theory which is basically what all religion is about. Also for me freedom is more important and above everything, even my inc*ldom.
