Prices raised on cards like the 580 a few years ago, but then it settled down almost entirely. There was almost nothing on GPU mining for a while. Last year before new generation launch, you could get any GPU at MSRP no problem. Then the new cards launched, scalpers realized they can buy and sell at a profit, which they eventually figured out how to do with every other card available, then GPU mining saw a huge boom near the beginning of this year.
Edit: also pandemic didn't affect production much. At first, maybe for a few weeks, but right now, they're producing quite a bit more cards than before the pandemic. Usually TSMC operates at 90% capacity with a 10% buffer, but they are at 100% capacity right now, there's just too many bots and scalpers out there.

They really fucked the prices up. I can't upgrade my GPU because I can't afford any new or old GPU. They are literally more expensive than my entire PC. I built my PC for 4500 TL but now an RX580 is about 6000 TL AND THERE ARE BUYERS FOR IT. I bought my GTX 1060 for just 1400 TL which was about 250 dollars 2 years ago. (1 USD is about 8 TL)

Yeah I feel super fortunate to have gotten my 2080 super just a few months before shit hit the fan. I thought it was excessive at the time, but I got it at just the right time. The two consoles have pretty much the same specs. PS5 has better a ssd, xbox has a better graphics card. But the PS5 also has Dual sense, exclusives, and the ssd is much better than the run-of-the-mill graphics card of the windows brick. (Except for the storage). So, in a nutshell, that’s why. And nobody gives a shit about the game pass, since you can buy that on any functional computer.
